Who really shut down B1G football?

Fully agree, nobody wants to have the one kid that dies be on their campus. Litigation is a bitch...
The point is that there would be no litigation. In reality its a non-factor because the threat is equally ridiculous looking at it from either direction. The only possible way someone could file suit would come from a ridiculous scenario like the school forced a player to lay on the ground while covid positive patients spit in his mouth. Something completely reckless that presents an atypical danger.

The buck stops with the person in charge. Warren is in charge of the Big10. Trump is in charge of the country. Both are ultimately responsible for the situations we are in. Why you are calling Trump a socialist is beyond me as he is the guy that got elected. You may now chime in with why none of this is Trump’s fault at all...
not about trump. all about elected state officials in liberal states and cities. they are socialists. this is why they are so reluctant to reveal who and how they came to such a dumbass decision and then have the gall to suggest it would be ok to play in january. will wuhan flu be magically gone? MAGA forever and ever. Amen

While the decision may not have been his, it's a cop-out to say Warren does the bidding of the Big execs. I'll bet things may have gone much differently under a stronger Big commissioner (Jim Delaney says "hi!").
This is exactly right, the Alphas make the decision, which is all the more alarming that someone like Warren is in charge
He’s literally a paper tiger, more like a stuffed one with sound bites programmed
It’s unfortunate that Nebraska doesn’t have the majority on its side. Stupid Court of Owls Big Ten Presidents

I think it's questionable logic to think that a brand new league commissioner had enough say in things to cancel a season. It appears likely that he certainly facilitated in favor of a spring season but the presidents are the ones to finger and they'll remain silent and have to answer to nobody.
Is a 12-2 vote unanimous? (If the vote even happened)

The B1G will weather this just fine in the long run. It looks really bad from our perspective but it will survive. NU will survive. Our athletic department got a little too comfortable with the TV revenue and wasn't conservative enough IMO with the resources. Who knew this stupidity was going to happen but you have to prepare for emergencies and we were caught with our pants down on this. The athletic department can't spend like the federal government because they can't print money.
I think the arms race is ridiculous.
But it exists.
Silly to think the University shouldnt spend its revenue. Its what everyone else does, and they’d catch heat if they didnt. “Our facilities are so far behind” etc etc., plus funding every other sport.

Does anyone think:
  • these 'blue' states will get increased federal aid to compensate for their corona virus economic loss?

  • someone in the House will Lobby for aid to Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, etc..

  • anyone is going to lobby for the "red" state Nebraska on getting it federal aid for its corona virus loss?

  • Most of the B1G presidents might have already been told they would get bailed out by their governors/representatives and so decided to go ahead on the vote not to play.

I understand this is political, but does anyone else see how this could go?

We are def in the wrong conference.
Keep in mind that many liberal administrators and professors would love “free college”.
A bailout is a backdoor way of getting it.
However, I still think this is mostly warren.

I am going to go with a grander viewpoint. How about a society that caters to the 1% instead of the whole and a society that is deathly afraid of being sued. The first kid that died the lawsuits would be flowing. I blame all of us
So...
-first kid that dies playing, which happens.
-first kid that dies after moving back to campus, which is happening.

There is no logic in the liability justification.
Not to mention the DEATH RATE IS LIKE 0

I think the governors probably had some degree of influence in this, but I don't think there's any question that the culpability for shutting down the season lies with the university presidents.
Did warren steer them a certain way?
Did warren even vouch for a season?
Did he represent ADs?
What info did they use?

cant argue against that. I think they were more worried about the heart condition, but that is neither here nor there, as your point still stands.
People have already died due to this heart condition.

Further, what study did they use? The one thats been pointed out as flawed? Why wont they say?

According to multiple reports in fact Warren made it clear he preferred waiting until spring. The question about what info they used probably won't be answered but my personal theory after the NCAA's letter AND Bowlsby's statement about "if we don't play football we probably won't play other sports (basketball)". I think that the NCAA's mandates weighed heavily in the decision.

More faux legal liability.

You forgot to juxtapose that map with this one.

Obviously Warren is the guy most are putting the blame on. As the B1G commissioner it should fall on his shoulders. This has all become a horrible PR nightmare for the B1G. One that seems to be easily reconciled. Supposedly all the university presidents are the ones who can hire and or fire a B1G commissioner. Not sure if true, just something I saw come across twitter. If this is indeed true and the majority of universities really want to play. The solution to this problems seems easy and obvious. Remove Warren from his position and reinstate football.
Do so would pretty well fix all problems. It makes the players, parents, coaches, fans happy. It helps the universities at least have some cash flow coming in. It removes enemy #1 Kevin Warren, which helps sooth the PR issues for the B1G.
Now being this hasn't been done. It really has me wondering if it was the presidents who chose to cancel the season and Warren is just the fall guy. Maybe its the presidents we need to be putting pressure on, not Warren?
Klobachar was bragging about how she got Whitmer to cancel football. I'd say it was Democrat politicians and their lackeys.
