Where you at now

Next week will be a good measuring stick. But right now the Mighty Mormons are getting beaten down at home by Boise. I thought they were going to go undefeated?

The oline played better - but in part, So Al D sucks..... Our execution on D is not at a high enough level to hold up to good offenses. So Al has some talent on offense - so not shocked they moved the ball. In fact we held up better against the run than I thought we would. I saw alot of blitzes try to get there - not get there - and guys either open or making plays to catch the ball (mostly on Davie). It can be improved - but I think a quality O is going to hand Banker his hat. How many of those are we going to face?

Update on the score? At this point I'm sure poor BYU is getting run off the field. That darn mid major program.

@huskerman Me too. I love not being ranked and losing to a team not ranked but then that team played damn well against a ranked team so obviously we are "Ok". Abababsbsbababb

So we should root for BYU to lose? You can't see that a victory over a ranked opponent makes them a better team, and not the patsy you want them to be?

To me, and most logical posters, that victory solidified that they are a pretty good team after all. I don't think a single person on here is saying "I don't mind losing the game last week now that Boise State lost to them as well." Last week's loss still sucked. It's too bad that you aren't able to recognize the end of the world for Husker football has not yet arrived...

You've been a member for four years and this is your fourth post? What did HuskersMan34 say that drew you out from hiding?

Too soon?

Ya, still too soon. We put this game away like we should've, so that is encouraging. More players got to see the field, so that is encouraging as well. For us to be good again we need to beat the teams we should, and beat at least some of the teams where we are not favored. This game was a step in the right direction.

An incremental improvement from week 1 in a number of areas. Reduction in penalties, more specifically the offensive variety. Like Tom Shatel said today, this whole thing is a massive tear down and rebuild. We have been more or less on probation for the past 7 years and our depth chart reflects that. Wins and losses aren't as important this year and the next as teaching and establishing the identity of the program. That is not to say that the coaches should try to win every game but rather the big picture needs to be in the minds of fans.

Everyone was/is upset about Mark Banker being the defensive coordinator. I'm personally not seeing what all that worry was about. His approach and philosophy through two games is quite clear, suffocated the run game and be fundamentally sound tacklers. Really a simple concept at the core but something the previous staff couldn't achieve, mostly because of lack of effort and rigid adherence to a scheme. Banker may or may not work out in Lincoln but I would rather make QBs have put balls into tight spaces down the field into the teeth of a pass rush than watch NCAA single game rushing records get set against the Blackshirts in three quarters.

Post counts don't mean anything. I lost my count when they upgraded site. Not sure what happened.

BYU will likely be ranked now. Early season rankings don't mean much. Ask Auburn. What I want to see from NU is improvement each and every week. This could be a tough year for us with the depth issues we have at some key positions but I'm just going to enjoy watching Husker football again largely because I have a head coach that I respect and admire. Win or lose, I'm all N again.
