what do you like about rhule thus far?

As others mentioned he seems like a genuine and likable person. Seems to enjoy being here, not treating it like “just a job”.

He is confident and has a vision. That being said, Frost had a vision too. He seemed hungry early on before the failures stacked up and he had no answer.

A few things that separate Rhule from Frost in my opinion are:

- He has failed and learned from it. He has talked about how that experience has changed him and how much it improved him as a coach.
- He seems to be much more detail oriented, commented on my several players already. I think that will go a long way with the overall discipline of the team.
- LIKES connecting with his guys. Rhule is confident and charismatic, whereas Frost often came off cocky and standoffish. I think players will just like playing for the guy more.

Only “negative” so far is that I wish he would have got one more ace recruiter on staff. I think we have several solid recruiters but no Mickey Joseph type guy (well aware he wasn’t an option given the circumstances, just using his prowess as an example).

I do wish they would have found a spot for Bill Busch too, we seem to have lightened up on the Kansas City area with Busch being gone too.

Says all the right things. Wins the press conferences and media opps.

But after the last 23 years of suffering, I won't believe any of it until I see real improvement and consistent results.

I have bought into every new coach (I was at least apprehensive about Riley). But I feel like he is different. He gets the media and the state. He’s been successful before. And he seems to be embracing it all very well. I’m excited. But again, I’ve basically been excited for every new hire.

He's undefeated.

He’s smart, because he knows this is a good opportunity. We have a committed fan base and a lot of resources. As he deploys the full might of those resources, he will win which makes us happy, and he will have created opportunities for many others who will use this as a springboard to other promotions. Or, if some want to stay put, they can make a pretty good living in Lincoln.

I was excited for every new hire except Mike Riley and Bill Callahan. I knew that the Mike Riley hire was going to end in disaster. I was skeptical of Bill Callahan, but after beating Michigan in the Alamo Bowl in his 2nd season, he had won me over.

It’s more fun to buy in - hook, line and sinker. So that’s what I choose to do.

That being said, Rhule has made it easy to buy in.

He seems to have a bit of Devaney in him, personable, outgoing and energetic. Well maybe with less drunkenness lol. Just hope he can win like the bobfather.

Oh yeah, being even somewhat great as Devaney would be AWESOME!!

Saw an article written by John Buhler who writes for Fansided.com. I do not know anything about him. He predicts the Huskers will go to a bowl. He doesn't think it will end well for Brian Ferentz (and his dad) in Iowa. Two BIG teams make the playoffs, but do not win. Sparty's big-time boosters will not be able to get away from Mel Tucker fast enough and Ryan Walters will be a star at Purdue. Nothing too crazy here, but he makes some interesting points.

Good post. Interesting about Tucker

I’ve always thought he was a pretty good coach and he obviously can attract high-end talent

His record vs big brother will be how he’s judged, as ever with Sparty

I agree with many observations so far.

For me, Rhule is confident but does not come across as arrogant. His speaking has a sense of optimism that is very effective when communicating with the public and ultimately with players and recruits. When he speaks he looks at viewers. Not like Frost who often looked away.

How well the team plays with discipline and he manages on game day will tell me alot about Rhule as head coach here. Basic fundamentals were severely lacking during the Frost era. Frost was a big picture guy who lacked attention to detail.
