Did not realize that this camp was serving as a satellite camp for other schools. Walked in right by a LSU coach and then noticed McNeese State, Grambling and others were in attendance.
Skip Holtz reminds me a lot of Bill O'Brien by appearance, voice, mannerisms, etc. La Tech should be excited to have him there.
Coach Orgeron was in attendance and addressed the crowd as well as the HC from Southern University. There was probably 30 or so coaches walking around and another 15-20 La Tech players helping out.
I texted my buddy who is a "YUUUUUGE" LSU fan that Coach O was there. His son was with mine in Lincoln for camp. He was a little upset because he didn't realize that LSU and all of the other schools would be there either.
So I go outside as the kids go get measured and Coach O is outside on the phone. I walk to my car and he's off so obviously I have to introduce myself and tell him how upset my friend is that he's here and he would've been had he known LSU was going to be there.
So Coach O in his growl of a voice says, "Let's call your friend. Better yet, let's face time him. What's his name?"
So I call Tommy and I say, "Hey Tommy! Someone here wants to wish you Happy Father's Day!" Then Coach O takes the phone and it was completely priceless. Tommy was floored...Coach O is a great guy.
So...no 40s yesterday which kind of bummed my son out because he said he felt good and was running good during baseball Thurs-Sat. However, he did well in the station work and got pulled aside by McNeese State and Louisiana College.
McNeese State asked him what his best 40 was and he told them it was a 4.6. The guy just smiled and asked my son what he would think about playing TE.
Then my son was at a station ran by a La Tech WR. He was first through the line so he was demonstrating to everyone in the group how to do the drill. The LT WR put in a new drill and Trevor did it right and he would say "just like that!". That happened 2 or 3 times and then Trevor ran a curl and the WR says, "I am just going to call you white chocolate".
All in all a great camp. Son aggravated a thumb injury to end his day, but he still made it to Southeastern Oklahoma State today. He came in a 6-2/182 this morning.
