No, traditionally when point shaving is discovered you do not want it to look "obvious" and you really don't want the team that is "supposed to win" to lose.
Ideally, from information that we get from point shaving, you want the favorite to still win the game (the player is still happy) you just don't want them to cover.
You probably also would not pick a line like 8ish but probably more like 12 and up, just to make it easier.
I think in this case you just have a bad team playing against a team with better players. I don't think it was point shaving. That just doesn't happen that much.
