Not sure you understood the post, Liberty and Florida St were left out of a 4 team playoff, not 8. Since I wrote, what undefeated team would get left out of an 8 team CFP, what happened in 2023 would be irrelevant.

If that were the case you wouldn't be so upset about Ohio State running the table on their bracket. They didn't receive a bye, they crushed the #1 overall team, they proved they were clearly the best team in the playoff. You're moving the goalposts now.

If a 3 loss Alabama had won their conference, I'd want them to get in too. But they didn't, they were busy getting their doors blown off a bottom 4 team in the SEC.

yes. had Michigan crushed Ohio State en route to the latter's 3rd loss, I'd argue Ohio State didn't deserve to be in. But that's not what happened.

They already "don't matter" as in the fact that no player is like "Ohhhh man, I hope we play in the Sugar Bowl", they just want to play in the playoffs. So, what is the issue?
They will have to do it another year. Or at least until the Big 10 and SEC have more control in 2026-27 season

In my opinion, the best teams is determined by taking the top 4, 8, 12 16 whatever number you want, of teams and seeding them 1-4, 8, 16 etc. and playing it out. Giving a berth to the Big 12, ACC champ or MWC just because they have enough teams to be considered a conference isn't reason enough, in my opinion, to justify an auto berth and a bye. Clemson shouldn't be in the playoff simply because they beat SMU because they lost 3 games during the season and finished the year ranked 16th.
Correct, in order to change any of the format, they need unanimous approval from all members of the CFP commissioners. I think you will see the SEC and Big Ten commissioners push for a different format for the 2026 season playoff, including more than 1 auto berth, some models show an increase to 14 teams with the following berths 4 for Big 10, 4 SEC and 2 each for Big 12 and ACC, then the rest of the leagues and ND battle for the remaining 2 spots.
Again I don't agree with that, this season, Iowa St and Alabama would have been awarded berths, allowing for 2 teams outside of the top 16 getting auto bids (Clemson and Iowa St). It will literally make a good number of regular season games irrelevant, except for determining who the 4th best SEC or Big Ten teams are.
If a leagues top 4 teams are good enough they will be in the top 12 or 14, if not they won't be and do they even need to be in a playoff.
