Those wacky Sanders boys

Most schools seem to have certain achievements you have to reach to get your jersey retired but honestly if CU wants to do it this way or make exceptions, that is on them and they can do what they want.

I'm old enough to remember CU's glory days in the late 80s/early 90s, including #2 CU beating #3 NU in Boulder in '89. While Deion has certainly brought attention back to CU, he has done nothing to come close to replicating how amped up that program and their fans were after beating NU that year. Apparently, I remember this better as a Husker fan than the CU administration does given their choice to enshrine Shedeur and not a player like Darian Hagan who was good enough to beat TO and Charlie McBride at their own game - option football. Normally, I get enjoyment out of watching CU do stupid stuff, but the college football fan in me wants to vomit at this choice they made.

they're a perpetual have-not.

they're the family that celebrates prom like a wedding and HS graduation like the nobel prize.

none of this is surprising, its actually hilarious to watch.

i think retiring numbers is silly either way. its cooler in my opinion to see guys like Raiola wearing Frazier's number, or the mystique that surrounds a QB wearing 7. deleting those numbers from the pool feels like it robs guys of getting to try on the shoes they should aspire to fill.

Travis Hunter getting retired is a non issue he won the biggest award in CFB. Even though Shedeur was a good Qb and will be a high draft choice and all kinds of records it’s just another look at me moment for Deion .I can’t imagine a true diehard Colorado fan is happy about his selection.

Just listening to the sports radio in Denver. The hosts and most of the callers agree that Shedeur does not come close to deserving his jersey retired.

I would imagine that this might bring more attention to their spring game, maybe sell more tickets more gear and maybe more season tickets.

I am starting to think that CU is happy with just profits at this point.

Sad to say, but it seems that NU is also putting profits above a quality product these days as well.

Wow... we better see some W's

This is the type of financial commitment that many of us have been wanting to see. (if these numbers are accurate) When it comes to school revenues and spending it’s not always apples to apples. There will be multiple other publications with somewhat different numbers, and some that will validate these numbers. I need more information before I 100% believe we’re spending on the elite level this tweet suggests.

FWIW, I hope these numbers are legit. Cause that means we’re giving our coaches what they need to succeed. And if they don’t succeed, we don’t have to question if we gave them the necessary support.

I agree. If this is true I would like to see how the money is being utilized.

I won’t. They’re good player, should and likely will be 1st round picks but… #1 and 2 overall? Any GM and/or HC that picks either of them #1 overall has a death wish. Picking a DB/WR #1 overall is insane IMO and Sanders has too many flaws to go #1 overall. But he’ll go top 10 IMO, QBs are the holy grail in the NFL and someone will take a shot on him.
Not even close.
