Chances that any of this affects a sport any of us pay attention to in a significant way?

On at least a few occasions I've seen men's golf and tennis getting thrashed by the competition, and didn't like it at all. If you suck as a coach at Nebraska, be gone!

Agree. Tennis coach had been there since 81 and golf since 2001. Seems like the prior ADs weren’t paying attention.

Honestly...you could have the nations most dominate golf and tennis programs and they would still bleed money. Might as well just have a freaking chimp coach the sports...NU could have a golf team that won the past 10 national championships and the amount of money they lost would not be "par for the course"

In fact, they might have won the past 10 championships and none of us would have known or cared.

Who cares if it bleeds money. Our athletic department has plenty of it. There's athletic departments that are well in the red that still have men's tennis and golf programs. Almost every sport besides football is a money loser. That doesn't mean we should cut every other sport that loses money.

I don't care if it bleeds money at all...not one bit. I don't think they should cut the sport or fire the coach.

I’m ok with keeping the these teams as far as “scholarship opportunities” are concerned but I’m not sure why they bother competing for anything. NU golf and tennis are garbage juice.

I recommend a new regiment to prepare these athletes for the game of life:

1. Show up to country club at 9:45am and head directly to the lounge.

2. Do multiple cocktails to the face while complimenting the bar maid/cart girl on her cans.

3. Hit the links/tennis complex who cares how you play as long as you get a few stock tips and know you are superior to the lewzers who are at work. Have a laugh.

4. Head back to lounge for more tipsters with your buddies Lance and Chad. Revel in the previous night’s glory hole exploits.

5. Get up the next day and repeat.

How many days can you play golf in Nebraska from mid November to May? If your top golfer would you not want to play in the South or West where you can play almost every day?

Did you know that men’s golf is the 3rd most sponsored sport for men in the NCAA?

Why not use this as an opportunity to eliminate these men's sports and be able to bring in more football walkons and than you would be in Title 9 compliance based on my understanding of the rule.

Forgetting golf and tennis - I thought our athletic performance lab and sports nutrition support were being touted by the football program in recruiting as among the best in the nation. Both directors of these programs have been removed

It sends a message. Start low and work your way up to the big boys. No one is safe if they don't do their job well.
Works better if you start at the top. Firing the mailroom clerk for “aggressive flirting” with one of the admin assts isn’t necessarily going to affect how the manager treats the admin assts. However if you fire a manager for doing the same thing, the mailroom clerk sees people are serious. Imho.

Well they just built a 15 million dollar facility

Sounds like you’re a real winner, Swiss.

I agree and that works when you don't have high dollar contracts to deal with.
