That's a bullshit point, because few to none of the playoff teams played another Top 20 team in the non-conference schedule.Name one single team that lost a playoff spot due to a non-conference game.
I’ll wait.

Georgia played Clemson non-conThat's a bullshit point, because few to none of the playoff teams played another Top 20 team in the non-conference schedule.
It’s really not. It’s the only point that matters. That's a bullshit point, because few to none of the playoff teams played another Top 20 team in the non-conference schedule.
The year before Texas played Bama in the non-con and both teams made the 4-team fieldGeorgia played Clemson non-con
Oregon played Boise St non-con
Texas played Michigan non-con (when scheduled fully expected Mich to be top 20)
We were all told when the 12 team playoff was being sold that MORE teams would schedule tough non-con opponents because there wouldn't be as much of a fear that a loss in the early season would derail your chances at a NC.That's a bullshit point, because few to none of the playoff teams played another Top 20 team in the non-conference schedule.
just for us at the moment. We were all told when the 12 team playoff was being sold that MORE teams would schedule tough non-con opponents because there wouldn't be as much of a fear that a loss in the early season would derail your chances at a NC.
Guess that was a bill of goods.
Especially with a 9 game conference schedule. We were all told when the 12 team playoff was being sold that MORE teams would schedule tough non-con opponents because there wouldn't be as much of a fear that a loss in the early season would derail your chances at a NC.

You can call being smart cowardly, but it doesn't change anything. Cowardly is kind of funny anyway because it implies that I fear something. Nebraska could play the Philadelphia Eagles all 12 games and while I probably would feel sorry for them, I wouldn't be fearful as every game would be 1,000 away from me and I'm not playing. It’s really not. It’s the only point that matters.
You’re just offended because it’s the crux of your cowardly argument.
So, there were 2 games out of 42 non-conference games that pitted 2 eventual playoff teams, and Clemson was not the normal Clemson. What you said ^^^ made my point for me. Michigan played a little better in November, but scored less points and gave up more points than Nebraska did.Georgia played Clemson non-con
Oregon played Boise St non-con
Texas played Michigan non-con (when scheduled fully expected Mich to be top 20)
Well if she looks as described, you’re clearly getting action nightly. Congrats to that!If my wife lost 150 lbs, got a boob job, fixed her bald spot, cut off her 11th toe, corrected her gonzo nose and lazy eye and had a Kardashian make-up team … she could be a super model. Point is - she’s getting close.
we have had ONE year of the current format. Not enough toName one single team that lost a playoff spot due to a non-conference game.
I’ll wait.
its not quitting when the series didn’t start. That’s the ONLY reason why these teams aren’t ending the series. Many have played the first game and can’t back out because the home team wouldn’t allow itI agree with all of this. And I also agree that if you’re in the B1G or SEC there’s no real “need” to schedule top 25 caliber opponents in the non-conference. What I don’t agree with in canceling your remaining marquee non-con matchups. Don’t be a pussy, play the matchups that are currently scheduled, then just refrain from scheduling such games going forward. I mean, we all will live. The stadium will still sell out and life will go on. I just don’t like the way we are handling the end of marquee non-con matchups. This may be the way CFB is headed, but you can evolve and adapt with some dignity. Quitting is just so… pathetic.
Didn’t they pay that guy some silly amount coming out of high school and now he’s holding out for more $ ? He’s not even that good, but I guess the market for a high level qb keeps going up. Crazy times, I expect to see more of this as the NiL numbers keep going up significantly every year
They need to let him go. If the fold everyone is going to think they can hold out.
Yes like 10 million over 4 years I believe.Didn’t they pay that guy some silly amount coming out of high school and now he’s holding out for more $ ? Damn, what is he holding out for, does he expect like $3m or $4m a year? Thats crazy money for good but not great college qb. Be interesting to see if he leaves who pays up for his services, his agent must have some big offers on the tableYes like 10 million over 4 years I believe.
Exactly and this kid is like the middle of the road SEC Qb . I am not a Tennessee fan so it’s really easy for me to tell this kid to take a hike .They need to let him go. If the fold everyone is going to think they can hold out.of this madness..

"Iamaleava, 20, is reportedly set to earn $2.4 million this season but wants to renegotiate his deal to $4 million per year.
The quarterback was the No. 23 overall recruit in the 2023 class and when he initially signed with Tennessee’s NIL collective in 2022, Iamaleava was set to make $8 million over his college career.
Tennessee and Iamaleava’s camp were in negotiations for a new contract that would give him a pay raise on Thursday, according to On3. The spring transfer window closes on April 25, and it is unknown whether these negotiations could cause the quarterback to depart.
Iamaleava redshirted his 2023 season and became the team’s starting quarterback going into last season after Joe Milton departed for the NFL.
As a freshman, the six-foot-six quarterback led Tennessee to a 10-3 record, with 2,616 yards and 19 touchdowns and five interceptions."
Tennessee’s Nico Iamaleava under scrutiny over NIL, practice drama
so now Tenessee, who is clearly willing to spend over $2m a year on a qb, gets to go and poach some other schools starter leaving them sol
The kid should’ve thought this thing through. He’s prevented from going to an SEC school with a large enough satchel of cash to satisfy him. And the teams outside of that conference that have a large enough bank account to offer may already have a quarterback they like, and aren’t interested in adding a prima donna to the roster.Yes, potentially. But their options are limited by SEC bylaws. Nico can’t go to an SEC school and Tennessee can’t poach/buy a player from another SEC school. Personally I think Tennessee did the right thing. With the lack of regulation on NIL, the only way schools/donors can reign in this market is to tell these kids NO. Hats off to Tennessee for not caving and standing their ground.

I suspect the Indiana path of playing absolutely nobody will be a 1 and done (this is the route our coach & many sycophantic fans have declared to be “smart” and our best chance).Yes, but many never believed that and argued to the contrary. We also got sold a bill on the “more G5 teams will have a chance at a NC with a 12 team playoff…” Nope, just more opportunities for SEC and B1G teams. It’s like the old adage, listen to what people say, then fallow the money if you want to know the truth. 🫤
