....obviously the jury is still out as we won't know anything until the first whistle blows, but I think we have come out ahead.

Frost got to work fast on balancing out the roster with our JUCO pick-ups. It is something Riley needed to do after Bo's ongoing recruiting catastrophe, but for some reason was not allowed to. It ended up costing him. This week we filled a few holes in the depth chart that look like they could pay immediate dividends.

LB Honas - We desperately need a playmaker at LB. His films fits the bill and for the life of me I can't understand how he is a 3 star. If that is a 3 star film then I assume a 4 star looks like the Incredible Hulk and a 5 star is just a nuclear explosion after the ball is snapped. I understand they are highlights and we don't get to see his lowlights but wow that guy looks like a player.

CB Williams - Did I say we desperately needed LBs? Same goes for a CB who can make plays and hit. This guy moves directly into the competition to start if he continues to violently tackle people. TBH we need another one just like him.

WR Woodyard - Our returning WR corps only looks strong...It is a mirage.....we needed this signing. We need the speed and more importantly depth.

RB Bell - Another great looking film and someone that I think replaces Tre Bryant and makes Jaylin Bradley better through motivation. I don't think Tre will ever be back. I hope I am wrong, but that is just the way I see it. Bell is a guy who is going to put the RBs on the roster on notice to improve or find a seat on the bench.

I think the 4 JUCO guys change this team in a tremendously positive way and make up for some of the roster issues we have.

Of the freshman, I think Wildeman and Jurgens were the biggest studs that can end up being leaders on this team. The two tall WR/TE hybrids are going to be useful sooner rather than later. Most of the freshman probably get a redshirt except for maybe Pickering and the WRs.

The X factor is going to be QB Martinez. Will Gebbia or POB step up? Will Martinez play? Will Frost want to throw him to the lions since our schedule looks like murder? It is all up in the air at QB IMHO.

Agree 100%, specifically the 4 jucos mentioned..

Based on the roster for next year.......we need at least 3 more CBs in this class. 1 more JUCO and 2 Freshman.....IMHO

I think Honas and Bell are going to get immediate playing time and significantly improve the talent level at their positions. I don't know if Williams has the mental side down, but the big hitting ability is impressive. Him and Woodyard bring depth to positions of need. These jucos signings bring us from Iowa, Northwestern levels up to a team that can compete with Wisconsin right away.

Problem is we were not at an Iowa or Northwestern level last season. We got boat raced by Iowa and beat by Northwestern. It will take a bit more than a few Jucos to say we are at a level of Wisconsin. I don't want to expect too much in 1 or 2 years and then be disappointed. I just want to see consistent improvement and to be competitive in games.

Talent wise we are. It was motivation and coaching that doomed the team last year.

This may not be a fan favorite around here but I think "culture" more represents the problem than poor coaching. Admittedly culture is a function of coaching but at some point when your getting your butt kicked the man has to be willing to look inside and just make his mind that he isn't going to go down like that. It's going to be a brutal spring if SF is going to grind the boys to see who has that in them and not.

Yeah, that was my point. In terms of talent, I think this team is closer to Penn State and Ohio State than Wisconsin. We've got the best receivers in the Big 10 coming back. QB is a huge question mark, but we have guys who people are very high on. Our OL was highly rated coming out of high school and we were in recruiting battles with teams who consistently have good OL's. The talent is there and with coaching they're going to see a huge improvement.

I agree with this post 100%...
In fact i think your going to see a lot of guys move on.. would guess 4-5 wont be here after spring ball. Not recruits but guys on the team that just dont fit... thata why im good with oversigning and think next years class is more important than this years.i believe in adding jucos to fill holes for not only depth issues but also key plug ins.. in years past i havent put that much stock in jucos coming in right away to make that big of a difference at least in a starting role. For every David or Bowman a Kenny wilson comes to mind amoung others.. but these guys are different. We are teaching a whole new system to the entire team so the learning curve is going to be slightly different. They are all new to the system and Frost will absolutely play the guys he and the rest of the coaches think are giving the type of effort you suggest above. I cant wait to see it!!!!!GBR!!!

Last 3 games with Wisky were competitive
Nah, they toyed with us...they were smashing us last year and let up...this year they played like garbage and still waxed us pretty good...in none of those games was the outcome ever in doubt. I mean we only lost by two scores to Penn state this year......

Woodyard, Spielman, and Lindsey will each be used all over the field. Don't be surprised to see them in the backfield a few times per game.
