Steelers got their QB

Well shit. From 2015 or even 2020, this would be beyond awesome to see as a Steelers fan. Just feels like a former movie star trying to restart their career with a ln HBO made for TV special.

Still a Steelers fan but …..🙄

One Steelers fan to another. Whether you like him or not he's the best Steelers QB in the last 8 years . Yes better than the last 3-4 years of Ben as well. I wasn't in the camp of bringing Fields or Wilson back. Rather have one year with him than those two. Jmo tho...

It isn't like their season was going to be great without him either. They shoulda taken Sanders in one of the later rounds...at least you'd have some hope for the future.

Not a Sanders fan at all but by round 4 I would've ran to the podium with his name. Risk reward would've been great in 4th round. Cleveland got great value in round 5 with him.

Reasonable. But it’s another 9-8 type season coming. Especially if the attitude doesn’t allow for team bonding. Steelers don’t have enough talent to overcome a limited margin for error type offense

I guess that is fairly reasonable cost for a one year QB.
He'll be paid in the bottom 1/3 of starting QBs. They gave up nothing to acquire him. His signing doesn't even count toward comp pick calculations. He can't do all the things he used to do and he's got donkey brains. But the guy can still read a defense and he can spin it. He can make all of the throws. If the line can stay healthy, there's a reasonable chance that we'll be able to run the ball well enough and give him enough time in the pocket to make the offense work better than it has since Ben injured his elbow six years ago.

And if things go south this year, cut him. The $10 million guaranteed is chump change in today's NFL. Hell, Mason Rudolph is getting $7.5 million.

Agreed. I would have been fine with Fields for $40 million over two years cause he's a great guy in the locker room and he make big plays with his speed. But the Jets outbid us. But now with Rodgers, we have a chance to be better than that. Rodgers can see the whole field and throw across the middle. He can read defenses with the best of them and Arthur Smith should allow him to audible. He's a better QB than Fields but higher risk.

Let's say Rodgers finds the fountain of youth and our young players really come on this season. Rodgers is the only QB we could get who realistically could win us a playoff game or two. There's a (slim) chance that he could be for us like Tom Brady was in Tampa.

The Steelers aren't going to kiss Aaron Rodgers' ass like the Jets did. Rodgers is gonna have to fit in. The Jets changed their entire offense for the guy. This won't be a deal where everyone else has to learn his offense.

But I can't argue with your observations about this offense. It has been pretty bad and at best I think we're hoping to be in the top 16 of the league.

Exactly...Sanders in the 3rd even...but OK, take him in the 4th. Zero risk. That was a really weird play on behalf of Tomlin...having said that I have major doubts about him as an NFL QB, but at that price, how do you not try it?

if McCarthy ends up being a bust (i suspect he'll be just okay), the Vikings not taking a flier on Rodgers will go down as all-time stupid

I don't disagree with that sentiment. I don't think he somehow takes us over the top either. I also predict a similar season to last year.

All that said I was simply saying he's the best QB we have had in 8 years or so. Nothing more or less. Will it win us another game or two I can't say. Just in a vacuum imo he was our best option. Our last QBs ..Ben, Rudolph, Trubisky, Wilson, Fields, and now Thompson and Will Howard. I absolutely would take this current version of Rodgers over all of those guys (Ben last 3-4 years).

I really wish my Raiders would have ended up with McCarthy last year. I think he’s gonna be really good…especially with O’Connell.

Hope that Howard gets lots of work in the preseason. Rodgers I don’t think will make it the full season.

I’m a Vikings fan. Not signing Rodgers is the best move their GM has made since he was hired. I don’t care if they don’t win a game this year. Signing a nut job like Rodgers would have taken them nowhere. See what you have in McCarthy(who I didn’t want) and go from there. KOC can find a young QB. If not this year, next year. Hell I would have rather had Pickett than Rodgers. If McCarthy doesn’t work out, go find your next Sam Darnold. I thought they should have kept him over signing Rodgers.

You say that now, but if you find yourself watching Rodgers make a deep playoff run while McCarthy sits at home doing yoga in 2026 you'll feel different.

At this point, Rodgers might be playing a role, not in terms of a QB but in terms of the stuff he says. I think he embraced being the "bad guy" and is just playing into it a bit.

Or maybe he is just kind of a ass.

I now insist on watching dolphin sex every night before bed with the wife. She thinks I'm crazy, but I just tell her that's my kink.

I don't want to let her know that the frequency of the noises they make have powers. She might think I'm crazy or something.

He’s not a playoff winning QB anymore and he’s not worth the baggage. I try to be somewhat gracious, but I think he’s a POS.

I’m not worried about your scenario. If it happens, great for Steeler fans. Don’t want that pos anywhere near the Vikings locker room.

Cant say he's not a playoff winning QB anymore. Playoff wins is a TEAM stat not a QB stat. I can feel you on the baggage he might bring to a team. As far as him being a POS who really cares? Your not trying to hang out with him are you? I care much more about whether he can "football" or not than rather than is he a POS or not.

Half of America is a POS so who cares. Can he help my team win is all I care about with the dude. Just how I generally feel about professional athletes in general. They ate not paid to be "good guys" necessarily.

I don’t think he can help a team win enough games to matter. When I say he’s not a playoff winning QB I doubt he can QB a team to a playoff win. QBs matter immensely in the playoffs.

i remember your insane takes about Chubba Purdy too well to take you seriously.
Insane? The guy was a thousand yard 4.5 rusher who was recruited by multiple blue chip programs. He didn’t pan out at least in part because of multiple injuries including one that required surgery on his throwing shoulder. He was every bit as talented as his brother coming out of high school.

What do you mean by pos? By all teammate accounts, he’s a great guy. Dude signed for a total bargain in the middle of the week, hardly made a spectacle of it

Remains to be seen I guess. I agree QBs matter the most come playoff time. I just don't think we can definitely say he can't win a playoff game. As much as the QB matter the team matters as well. Wins are not a QB stat no matter how much people try and make it that.

Funniest part was when he said it matters for QBs to win games in the playoffs a few posts after slobbering over Sam Darnold.

The real reason is that Vikings fans hate Aaron Rodgers for owning their poverty franchise

I'm jumping on the Will Howard hype train a little bit myself. Big, strong kid. Supposedly anticipates and reads defenses well. Can run it- which could be valuable in the red zone. But I heard he was pretty inaccurate at mini camp this week. He's a developmental guy.
