I googled spring game cancelled. The list of pussy coaches includes, Sark, Day and Riley, in addition to Rhule.. Tampering is the universal reason.
agree.. and this feeds into the culture of the teamI blame it on our powers that be being incredibly soft
Yep and still some dipshits on here can’t figure it out. It has nothing to do with injuries.or player safety.I googled spring game cancelled. The list of pussy coaches includes, Sark, Day and Riley, in addition to Rhule.. Tampering is the universal reason.
And how do we even solve this problem? And the Wisconsin kid bagging out after signing a deal with the Badgers means all bets are off.
I do not remember whether the situation with the Wisconsin kid was litigated. The NCAA needs to insert the rule that transfers that fall outside the portal window come with a 1 year loss of eligibility. The kid can transfer, but would have to wait to play. And how do we even solve this problem?
How I read it was he informed Wisconsin he was entering the portal before the date and they refused to put him in. They can’t do that . The issue was they claimed he signed a Revenue sharing agreement so that is why the refused. . It wasn’t as clear cut as he just left after the portal was closed.I don’t know if has officially been resolved.I do not remember whether the situation with the Wisconsin kid was litigated. I think that makes total sense. If players want unrestricted rights to quit and transfer as they wish, just like any student can come and go as they please, they cannot accept the additional money. There should also be restrictions that come with NIL deals. No money given up front.I do not remember whether the situation with the Wisconsin kid was litigated. In fairness though - what does cancelling the spring game and weaseling out of the Tennessee show you? It is a huge hit to the fans because we are getting Northern Iowa instead. Adding a home game because they know the fans will still show up so they see it as adding fan “value”.The only thing I’ll accept is anytime Nebraska does something that could be considered questionable you will lead the charge railing against them in an effort to stir the pot. Was not surprised in the least to see your paws all over this and Tennessee cancellation.
You must be salivating today.
Exactly, there is going to be some good scrimmages during the spring but we won’t get to witness them.Yep and still some dipshits on here can’t figure it out. It has nothing to do with injuries.or player safety.
We are ducking a team that backed out of dates with us in the decade prior so that they had an opportunity to play VaTech at the Bristol speedway, then refused to return the favor to NU.In fairness though - what does cancelling the spring game and weaseling out of the Tennessee show you? I could kind of get my head around the spring game televised scrimmage. The TN backing out is indefensible. The combination of both is an atrociously bad look.
I’m sure the players are equally disheartened because it s a direct reflection of our admin and where they think we will be a year from now. I would be pissed if I was them.
Boo-hoo … We have to play tough games in 2026 - if our trajectory is what Rhule keeps saying it should be we should be lining up and battling anyone. But we are ducking a team we had previously committed to. That’s a bitch move in nearly any context and we do it on a national stage. Any PR around our justification of cancelling is just putting lipstick on a pig.
Good point they canceled one series over one game against Virginia Tech..We are ducking a team that backed out of dates with us in the decade prior so that they had an opportunity to play VaTech at the Bristol speedway, then refused to return the favor to NU.
Again this is a cop out excuse. When's the last time we had a standout in the spring game propel himself to be the starting caliber when it wasn't already expected of him? I can't think of a single instance in the entire history that the spring game has been played. Our entire two deep is already taken care of with NIL, so it would have to be somebody more unexpected than that.I don't think we would get paid anything to be televised on BTN/Network since it would still fall under the contract rights for "Nebraska Athletics." To my knowledge it doesn't matter how many games/events you play, you will still be paid the same flat rate annually (which is spread evenly throughout the B1G).
The admission used to be $10 for the spring game, if that is still the same then you would be looking at a max of 870k (would most likely be 600k) + concessions, however it does cost money to "run" the spring game so that isn't all profit and I also believe kids get in free (which is a significant portion of the crowd). In other words, when we are looking at 20-30 million for the roster management alone... the spring game contributes very little. Every little helps but when you have to make counter offers due to exposure, you are probably at pretty big loss.
Its not worth risking your roster depth to have a spring game. Anyone crying about not having a meaningless spring game should at least have 10 million to their name and be fully willing to support our players with counter offers.
OSU . Texas and USC have also canceled the spring game for the same reasons as Rhule . And how do you know that everyone in the two deep is already taken care off and completely satisfied with their NIL? Oh wait you don’t.Again this is a cop out excuse. Every time Sean Callahan brings up Dowdell, he mentions how Kentucky basically bought him with an offer that was way too good to turn down, even though he had just agreed to an enhanced NIL with NU.OSU . I really don’t need a scoreboard for the spring “game”. I think it’s kind of paranoid to be that worried about a scholarship player getting poached. Look at the number of guys who have had great spring scrimmages who never played meaningful snaps during the season. I think maybe at least this spring the walk ons if nothing else deserve to be able to put something on video to try to find a home. Maybe they’re doing that for guys they know they’re cutting with practice video. They are not canceling the day all together. They will come up with something.
I don't give a shit about those schools. I pay attention to what Nebraska does.OSU . Texas and USC have also canceled the spring game for the same reasons as Rhule . This is going to happen. There will be a fan day and I’m sure it will be decent.Damn, can't the University come up with a sort of fan day where players and coaches have stations in Memorial Stadium, the indoor facilities, the other outdoor field? They could have no pad 7 on 7 drills, punting and kicking contests amongst the players AND coaches. If you don't want to play a scrimmage game, fine, but make it a big deal for fans, players, and coaches without worrying about how it would be scouted!
I haven't paid much attention this year to the spring game news once they announced, but maybe they are already going to do some fan and player friendly things, be a shame to waste a nice day to not have anything go on. Just my two cents.
Oh well, they overpaid. He's not that good.Every time Sean Callahan brings up Dowdell, he mentions how Kentucky basically bought him with an offer that was way too good to turn down, even though he had just agreed to an enhanced NIL with NU.
Been told the top 65 players.I don't give a shit about those schools. I pay attention to what Nebraska does.
And actually I do know, because I've actually been paying attention. Everyone in the two deep is getting NIL.
Strawman approach done to perfection sir. Didn’t disprove my point just put focus elsewhereI guess Sark and Lincoln Riley are also insecure. I feel sorry for them.
Did I do that right @Spinner45
Maybe they saw something in last year's spring game. He had a big run that day.Every time Sean Callahan brings up Dowdell, he mentions how Kentucky basically bought him with an offer that was way too good to turn down, even though he had just agreed to an enhanced NIL with NU.
