Unfortunately I am not going to make it to the spring game. I tried to get tickets but was a feeding frenzy. Are you going to the game? What are you excited to see?

If I am working and cannot watch it live, I will try to watch a recording of it on BTN2GO or something.

"No, who cares it is a practice" would be for people on this board that are not Husker fans.

Why would you not want to see them play the spring practice scrimmage to see what the new coaches schemes look like and what some of the new players look like in action?

Finally seeing everyone on the same page. From the A.D to the coaches, to the media, to the fans, to the former players, to the boosters. Time to put the last 20 years of average football behind us and look forward to 20 years of great Husker football again!! GBR!!
This is the same for me. This is the 5th coaching change since TO retired. With all, I had an excitement that "this" could be something good. This one, with the exception of Solich feels very different. You are right, everything seems to be aligning perfectly from AD to President, to coaches, assistants to staff, to fans. I think we have a perfect storm brewing. Getting all the players on the same page might take a bit of time, but that is easy compared to everything else that needed to be perfect. It basically took 20 years to get everything right. Very exciting time to be a Husker fan. It all starts with the spring game. I would guess half the state will be at the game or watching it.

Had to throw that in there, just curious to see if anyone would actually choose it. Maybe some Iowa trolls hanging around. lol

I take my oldest daughter every year. She 9 now and its great for the family atmosphere (pg language) and the pocketbook. And this year its FROSTY! #GBR

I've been taking my girls every year for 7 years and couldn't get any. I'm more than a little pissed at the dbags (and there are a lot of them) that bought up a bunch only to try to make some money off of them. I hope their greedy, stupid asses experience some minor financial difficulty as a result.

I've felt the same way about every new coach. With Solich I thought the fact he was TO's pick and kept the staff intact meant the success would continue. With Callahan, I thought the NFL experience would be a plus. With Pelini, I thought he could build a power around a strong defense. With Riley, I thought he was a good coach that just needed to be at a good program. But admittedly in every case, I did have to convince myself somewhat that they were definitely the right person, and I did have to overlook warning signs. I have no regrets for doing so either because I felt like they all deserved that kind of support to start out. But I can truly say now it takes no convincing to see we have the right coach and there are no obvious warning signs anywhere. I can say I see great things in the future and not feel like I'm just wishing more than actually believing.

And more than anything else, it is so good to finally not have some faction of the fanbase so opposed to the coach that they actually want them to fail(we all know there have been people like that for each of the last 4 coaches, more than would admit it openly). Of course, there's still going to be plenty of disagreements among fans, but they aren't going to be based on dislike of the coach. Just finally having the fanbase on the same page should make things more fun.

Boss gave me tickets and the kids love the experience. I’d rather watch it on the tele.

I do wish the university would have put a cap of 10 or less on it. I think they were so desperate to say they "sold out" that they knew putting a high cap on it would do the job. Unfortunately it left many like you and me who wanted to take our family to it, unable to get tickets (at a reasonable cost). Greed is powerful thing. Many took advantage of that.

Which makes them just that much more pathetic, holding out for $10. I’m all for capitalism and going out and getting what is yours, but the people doing this are clowns.

I would go if I didn't live 800 miles away. I didn't miss one from about 1986 through 2006.

With that said, it is just a practice. You can see which guys are standing out in terms of speed/ability, but other than that it doesn't tell you much. Besides, as a scrimmage, if one unit looks great, it means the other looks terrible. I remember the 1994 Spring Game everybody was worried about the offense, because the defense was just killing them in the Spring Game. In reality, they were both pretty freaking great.

Also, remember Callahan's first Spring Game. First play, he shifted from an I-formation to a spread, and the whole crowd roared their approval. So be careful what you wish for...

Clownahan's first Spring Game......God help us. But yes, there was zillions of NU fans dead certain that fluff-ball would give us terrific results. Same with "Smiling Mike". It never ends.....

One of the first spring games I went to after graduating was in a sky box. Me and some friends were the first ones in the box and we opened the fridge and ripped out some beers and started drinking them...after about 20 minutes a worker comes in and is shocked...she starts asking where we got the beers and telling us we can't drink them...she makes us pour them out and the ones in the fridge...

The owner of the box finally arrives and I tell them what happened...the laugh and say "Yeah, you gotta put all your drinks in a red cup or they freak out, good thing I keep the cabinets locked up, that is where all the hard stuff is"

The tickets actually cost $11 with the fee. You should be able to pick them up fairly cheaply over the coming weeks.

Yeah, they keep dropping on the secondary market.
I still think you will get them for free the day of the game. It will be nice out and people will go down to party and not want to leave their tailgates and/or bars.

Come on... you really gonna go there?

So you gotta show how much smarter you are for knowing better, huh? Fans just wanted the program to be better. We were losing to the likes of K State by 30... something needed to change. When Callahan came on board recruiting improved dramatically over what Solich was bringing in. Fans were stupid to think that increased talent would lead to better teams, huh?

When it became apparent that the Callahan experiment had failed, these ‘zillions’ of fans you reference were ready for him to be fired. Same thing with Riley.

But good for you for knowing better than the zillions of fans who didn’t.

Uhhh....it hardly took a rocket scientist to determine how horrible a HC he was. His first year was a losing season (the 1st in over 40 years for NU). Something him & "Smiling Mike" had in common.

But yeah, there was endless snowflakes who still thought he was terrific.

Respectfully disagree on zillions and endless.

By the middle of his fourth season the voices calling for his head were zillions and endless. That’s just being overly dramatic.

And as I recall, this horrible head coach had his Pro team in the Super Bowl 2 years earlier. To suggest fans were stupid to think he couldn’t be good at Nebraska is, on its own, stupid. It obviously didn’t work out, but that doesn’t mean the fans were stupid to think it could have.

This doesn’t even make sense. It seems like maybe you’re a special snowflake who needs us to praise you for how right you were about Callahan in this thread about this year’s spring game 15 years later.

Good job! You’re the smartest! Now get back out there and keep being right about stuff! We’re all very proud of you!

Heh.....I'm not the smartest but yes I thought firing Frank to bring in fluff-ball Clownahan was a truly disastrous move. It most certainly was.

Your silly sarcasm means nothing to me. But, if it makes you feel superior......

One other thing...lots of people bought a lot of tickets thinking their friends would be "in for sure"...

Of course that was like 5 weeks ago...as it gets closer a lot of those friends that were "in for sure" but forgot to complete the labyrinth from the movie Labyrinth (you know, getting permission from their wife or girlfriend about 15 times) and they will now be out.

Lots of tickets will be out there.

I dunno...ive never been more embarassed to be a husker fan. That includes Bo and Riley. Bo was a jerk but he was embarassing himself and I gave up on him when he should have been fired but it wasnt fans emarassing me....riley there was a lot of disagreement and some low expectations but i wasnt necessarily embarassed by any of it although the blowout losses sucked.

Callahan had a different feel altogether from the get go. Fans ooing and ahhing at his stupid formations made me wanna puke. I was at his first game and was utterly disgusted with the football but fans were too excited about a shifting line and passes to care.

Then when callahan threw his players, mainly dailey, under the bus and fans gleefully backed over him and did burnouts on his dead carcass again and again and rationalized what was probably the 2nd worst season in husker history since 1920 (next to last year) because we were so "modern", I totally abandoned any of the "husker fans are the smartest fans in the land" crap I always heard. No way. Some of the dumbest actually. I love being a husker fan and we are the most loyal and supportive but we jumped like a rat on a cheeto to be known as "modern" despite the obvious flaws. It was onvious it wasnt gonna work.
Callahan sucked ass, and those days sucked ass, and I knew theyd fail and was never more ashamed of husker fans. Id take Riley over him I think, at least he liked Nebraska.

Whats the point? I dunno really. Now que the "but but but cosgrove" bs from again stupid husker fans who dont get how a program works.

It was definitely a square peg in a round hole kind of fit. Callahan was not a good fit for Nebraska. Period. But when he had the right players on offense, we did do some things. Zac Taylor made it seem as though it could work here. If we didn’t have Taylor, maybe Callahan would have been gone after 3 years as well...

Even though the offense was night and day different, it at least showed signs that we could make some noise. We shoulda beat Texas at home (Nunn fumble), did beat Michigan in Alamo bowl, so there were signs we were improving. Then Zac graduated, and that was the beginning of the end.

(Notice I tried hard not to mention Cosgrove)

A big percentage of Clownahan's "mighty" offense was due to garbage time when down 3 or more TDs in the 2nd half we really crushed the opponents water-boys.

So how do you explain 10 wins and an Alamo bowl victory? Why did those 10 teams leave scrubs in late in the game so that we could get garbage time stats and victories? If only they left their starters in, we maybe win 5 games, huh?

I'm amazed there were 10 people that voted "No, it's a practice." Like, why are you here?
I could be wrong, but I am assuming it is other fans coming here. Maybe we do have 10 idiots in our own fan base. lol

Dang, down to 21 dollars now.
I have no problem with people buying as many as they can and trying to sell them for as much as they can...but I think a lot of people really over thought how much they could make.
I know it is supply and demand at it's finest. I just don't see justification for buying something for $ 10 and trying to sell for hundreds. Especially something that many try and take their families to.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I see both sides, I mean what if the person trying to sell them is trying to provide for his/her family.

Either way, the prices are way low now and will be 10 dollars or free come the 21st.

That is also the beauty of supply and demand. The true value will eventually work it self out.

Amen to that!
I will be in Lincoln for the game with zero intention of going into the stadium but I will take a look around and see what tickets are going for.
