Unfortunately my cable network just dropped the B1G network as of April 1. Anybody have an alternative route to get the game on TV? Will NETV re-run it in a timely manner?

Don’t believe so... Do you have Comcast?

No Mediacom. Dirty bastards.

Wonder how Delaney feels about picking Rutgers now for the B1G?

Comcast cut the cord on states that don’t have teams in states. Unless they have another cable provider their out watching B1G games.

You need to do a password swap with someone who wants a channel you get, but he/she doesn't.

I would never, ever do such a thing, of course, but I've heard rumors that this happens.
The game isn't on BTN2Go or Plus so I'm just screwed I guess. There is only one provider other than satellite in my neighborhood. I'm going to try to find it in a bar on Dish I guess.

Where do you live if you don’t mind me asking?

We switched to Mediacom from CenturyLink. CenturyLink is straight gahbage.
I'd just sign up for BTN on one of the digital services. TV sucks

Actually you can load Fox sports now for free and it plays the Big Ten network so it costs nothing!

Just do a free 7 day trial of Directv Now. You'll likely want to drop your crappy cable service when you do.

YouTube TV carries BTN network and has a 1 week free trial period. After that, it's $40/mo.

I plan on Subscribing for the 2018 season, unless I find a cheaper service I like better. My only requirement is that they carry BTN.

There's two apps available, Fox Now and Fox Sports Go.

Fox Now allows you to play back aired movies and TV shows after a number of days.

All programming on FX, FOX Sports and National Geographic requires a participating TV provider account.

Same with Fox Sports Go. Access is limited and dependent on your tv subscription.

The spring game will air on BTN. You will need a TV subscription that has BTN in order to watch the game on BTN or BTN2Go.

The only work around to paying to watch the game is to watch it at restaurant/bar that carries BTN, an illegal streaming website or replay capture that someone may upload to YouTube. If you're looking for a stream of the game, Reddit is a good source for that info. Make sure you have an ad blocker installed if you go that route.

I would argue that he probably still feels pretty good. NJ is the 11th most populous state with 9 million people. Comcast NY subscribers are lost, but in this situation BTN would be worse off without NJ. Plus, it's only one provider.

So is Directtv Now an entirely internet based platform and IF it is, can Mediacom block the service since they're my internet provider?

Yes it is and no they can't. But you may have data limits, not sure what you have for a package with them.

He has cable. They just do not carry Big Ten. Fox Sports Now carries Big Ten programming . He can get that via computer or streaming stick either one. I watch it all the time. I have ALLO basic cable and have no problem. I do not have any extra channels on my cable other than WGN. Rest are local!

Interesting that BTN has also disappeared from Comcast here in Colorado. It always required an extra sports tier, which was somewhat understandable given that it's not really Big Ten territory. But now, it's not available at all. Must have been contract time, and could it possibly be that the cable providers aren't buying the idea that millions of New York residents are glued to BTN now that Rutgers is in the conference?

Has the Big 10 and/or Big 10 Network released any statements regarding this situation? I live in Kansas and would hate for my provider to drop the network.

I think it's a state by state company by company deal. Midco decided there wasn't a large enough viewership in my area due to the population I suspect. Even though I live in a different state than Nebraska, with the right rifle I could probably kill a deer in Nebraska from my backyard. I would guess that at 3/4ths of their households in my area are either NU, Iowa, or Gopher fans. Mostly NU but still...:( I can't even pay an extra 30 bucks a month and get the danged thing on the regular cable. On gamedays if we aren't at the game there's normally at least 5 TVs running the game in my house.

If you have broadband internet, there are alternatives to cable and satellite. As I said previously, I subscribe to Playstation Vue. There's also SlingTV, YouTube TV, Direct TV Now, Hutu TV, etc. Most offer a week free to try it out. That's what I did when I first tried IPTV. The only caveat is that you have to purchase a device that can play back this. I chose FireTV devices.

I looked at the Directtv Now option and it appeared that I had to give them my credit card number to get the free trial then the only way I could watch the B1G network was to sign up for one of their premium packages at over $80/month. Then the fun deal is to try to cancel the subscription once they have you credit card number. My experience with internet services is that the only way you can get your subscription stopped is to change your credit card number.

There is a new option also available. I used a free week trial to Fubo.tv down here in Puerto Rico. I had to use my login credentials on the BTN website to watch the spring game, but it worked pretty well. I think they too are about $44 a month. Might be an option for someone to check out next fall.

Maybe I will need to listen to some of the games on the radio. I can remember listening to Kent Pavelka calling out many memorable Husker touchdowns. Hopefully Greg Sharpe can paint many mental masterpieces the next several years with Scott Frost as head coach. Winking

I pay $45 a month for taxes for Vue. It's $40 in areas they don't carry local channels. Tons of sports networks including BTN. Never had a problem cancelling, which I have done in the past. I use a credit card, not a debit card. Much easier to dispute charges.

The BTN in available on the $50 and $60 package, all you need to do is cancel is to click on manage your subscriptions and cancel. They ask a couple of questions why it didn't work for you and that's it. They do make a couple of offers to get you back, but it is a no hassle deal. You can sign up for another free trial under a different account if you want. This is pretty much the same for sony vue or Hulu live, all of which have the BTN. I've tried all 3 on my Fire Stick with no problems, At the end of the day, I'll stick with my cable company but will be using HDHomerun Prime to replace my HD receivers.

I have the same problem with Comcast. I’m hoping they settle with the Big Ten by fall. Would Apple TV have BTN access?

I didn't have that problem with direct tv
