So my Husker nation Instagram ....

Why are Nebraska fans so quick to hate a player they loved 2 months before. He didn't want to go to class so what. The dude knows he's going pro so why not just focus on football and make yourself as prepared as possible for the next level. 4 year starter, never had a problem with class before, never in any legal trouble. I thank Gerry for what he did here and wish him nothing but the best for the future.

There are a ton of people on here that act like the dude kicked their dog and then went and drank their beer from the fridge. There will be ten times as many posting the first pick he makes and throws the bones. Probably some of the same people.

Amen brother

His academic failures are his problem, not ours. That his academic failures also left his team without a starting safety for a bowl game speaks to a degree of selfishness. He let his team down when he was suspended early in the season and when he sat for the bowl game I don't wish the kid ill will. He's a really good player and I hope he has a long NFL career. But he obviously failed to learn some lessons off of the field.

Yeah, I don't get it. The guy was arguably our best player on defense, and we're ripping him?? Yeah, it wasn't smart to not go to class, and pretty selfish on his part, and it was embarrassing for our school, but why do we continue piling on the guy? If anything, I'm more pissed at our academic monitoring process for letting him get away with not going to class.

His academic failure is on him. It was his decision to pack it in. The academic assistance process was a success for a lot of other kids. Nate failed Nate.

I wish the guy the absolute best. I hope he shifts gears and tears it up in the NFL. He did WAY more for NU football than most; I couldn't do what he did and does.

He didn't run through the tape. He gave up. He quit. I'm not terribly fond of quitters. He needs to grow up...a lot.

His failure is on him, but our monitoring of him failed, which is unacceptable. If they would have been on top of it, they could have provided him assistance. Who knows if the kid was depressed or going through a difficult time of some sort.

Ok I agree with this post.... Except that there seems to be evidence that was a seeming purposeful sabotage of the team.
