I'm sure the University is anxiously awaiting your generous spontaneous donation. $10 million ought to cover it.

It is amazing that you think we don't already have the resources to pay for this. What else you got?
How about this? The shortest books in history:

1. My Search for the Real Killers by O.J. Simpson
2. My Accomplishments as the Nebraska Head Coach by Mike Riley

Resources or not (we could probably swing the money although that seems to be in contention by folks who know more about the money than me), who is your axe man?

You think SE is going to go up on stage less than a year after he axed Pelini and axe Riley? You think Perlman is going to do it?

I sure as heck don't. You are asking for actions to be taken, by people who see no need for said action. Your only hope is that the BoR stages a coup and fires a guy whose foot is halfway out the door, and I don't see that.

Date the check for next year friend.

You honestly don't get it. With changes, it will be a complete house cleaning. None of those you mentioned will be here. Get it now?

GT is in a recruiting hotbed, but they are also limited in keeping up with their local competition in today's recruiting landscape due to the course study available at GT. Even top ranked large Fine Arts universities have majors that are less rigorous and are easier for athletes with increased time demands to succeed in. GT doesn't really have much of that. I'm not saying we should hire Paul Johnson, but it is a factor for them.

If going that route at some point in the future, it would be smarter to go the Rodriguez/Meyer/Kelly/Fritz style than Johnson or the guy at Navy. The Flexbone offense is still effective but limited. In today's game, other offenses come close to presenting the same dynamic rushing attack while being far superior in the passing game. Why willingly limit yourself when you don't need to?

If you want to go to a true option offense, Fritz's offense is a much better choice. It's all shotgun or pistol and doesn't look like a 1980 offense to HS recruits but is just as devastating on the ground.

Well someone will be doing the house cleaning. That's how it works. You don't get it. Even if we plan to wipe out Perlman and SE, the Board of Regents would have to band together to do such. Thus, the coup I'm referring to.

You are completely delusional if you think the entire power structure of the UN system is going to fall prey to a mob with torches, from each Board of Regent on down to Riley, in the span of a handful of weeks. The Regents are elected for crying out loud.

Wake up man! We just lost to Purdue! They hung 55 on us! I don't care what people/media think. The clown car that our coaches ride around in needs to end! Get out the checkbook and pay somebody that is competent to coach here.

Fess up. How many usernames have you had?

I feel sorry for you. A board vote could ask Harvey to retire a little early with a nice package. No Harvey. They will appoint an interim to handle Harvey's job, probably somebody from the board. Then, adios to SE. No SE. No Mike Riley. It will happen. The real question is? Why don't you want it to happen?

Bounds started last April. The next chancellor won't start until June 2016, but at most schools it is the President who has the authority to fire the athletic director. I'm sure Bounds could pull the plug on Eichorst if he wanted to. But I doubt he will, this year anyway.
Nonsense, states use various titles for system vs campus CEO's, but it is absolutely false to state that the head of the system, whether titled president, chancellor, executive director would hire/fire a campus AD. I can understand the confusion since Nebraska uses Chancellor for the campus head and President for the system head whereas Ohio for example flips those roles.

Right, a coup. That I talked about 2 posts ago.

Perlman is one foot out the door, and even if he draws ire for messing around with football, he's respected for what he did on the academic side.

The Regents would have to want to seriously mess with history if they

1. Choose to fire a coach in his first year
2. Choose to do so by a vote 2 levels above where the decision is typically made
3. Choose to fire a respected University Chancellor whose main job is academics and not sport, 7 months from retirement no less

They *could* do this. I don't see a bunch of elected officials

1. Moving quickly
2. Moving against their normal conservative demeanor

So independent of my wants (I got no problems throwing 6 million at Herman), I *do not* see this happening. Its message board fantasy.

One more thing, the mob won't be carry the torches. It will be the power structure carrying the torches. Nebraska football is a brand that generates millions of dollars a year. The brand was bruised under that psycho Pelini. In 9 games under Riley, he has managed to destroy it. It will not be allowed to continue.

Who are you trying to convince? It won't be allowed to continue unchecked! It wouldn't surprise me if SE gets the axe this week. Be prepared. It's coming.

Someone pointed out that the NU Foundation is a couple billion dollars. Billion with a B. The Foundation is not for athletic use, but by comparison, the millions of dollars that football brings in is peanuts.

To give another sense of perspective. We joined an athletic conference where the conference commissioner has floated the idea of de-emphasizing athletics by making freshman ineligible.

No skin off my back if it does happen.

I'm anxiously awaiting but somehow the most exciting part of my week still seems the brakes I need to change on my car.

Your arguments are laughable.

I'd say that if SE isn't canned by next game, your odds of making it to post count of 50 are pretty well zero.

I love guys like you. Post counting. You live in a world where the sheer number of posts you have make you feel important. In reality, you have too much free time on your hands so you live in your imaginary world. I started posting here because I hate the state of our program. You post here so you can feel better about yourself. You almost have 4,000 posts. You're the man!

I have an inconsequential number of posts. And that's over 11 years.

He made the ignore list. I wonder what his week is going to be like when SE is watching the Black Friday game in the Skybox.

Not angry. Just tired of you and him defending garbage. That's what it is. We hired a garbage coach with an incompetent staff and people say things like "give it time" and "process". Meanwhile, we just got rocked by Purdue!
Purdue! I think Kansas would beat Purdue. You and jflores are the same and it's terrible. You are defending the indefensible. When I call you out, you hit me with "angry little man" type posts because you have nothing of substance. Please wake up.

It depends on what folks mean by the option. One of the better GT teams in recent memory got absolutely shut down by one of the better Iowa teams in recent memory in a BCS Bowl. And they had zero to fall back on when the beloved option failed.

There are teams that use option concepts, elements and straight up rip off plays of the old NU offense, but there's no option team that is threatening to dominate CFB at present. Even with PJ sitting amidst 400,000 5* recruits in the Deep South.

My preference would be TO's offense, Oregon's or Urban Meyer's O from his Tebow years at Florida (or some combo of the three). I would certainly take a triple option O over any pro-style, but the above would be my preferred offensive style.

I haven't attempted to defend Riley recently. I have noted, however, that I believe firing him now would be a mistake (for the reputation of the program) and very unlikely. I think you're setting yourself up for disappointment if you really think they'll fire Riley before next fall.

I might be in the skybox for the MSU game. Be interesting to see with this particular group of moneyed folks, if any prevailing sentiment comes out. However, from a distance, Year 2 looks most probable.

I HAVE NOT NOTICED. They all say he is a nice guy. Hopefully USC takes him. Then we can get Tom Herman. Riley is and has been a coach that finds a way to lose.

UOTE="Soda Popinski, post: 1119914, member: 12020"]If you haven't noticed, Mike Riley is well-respected in coaching circles. Good coaches (and responsible humans in general) are careful about which jobs they take. Sipple is still sucking at Pelini;s teet. Screw him. Riley will get the full term of his contract and he and all of you assholes that think he should be fired can pound sand.
Don't you mean all Husker fans will be "pounding sand" under this current regime.
