One poster did, but I agree he would be in the vast minority.

If its suspension only and not dismissal it would have to be a major one.

The athletic dept. seems to be waiting for more to come out about legally before deciding, which is good.
But as is, this isnt good, and I stand by the claim that if it were a rival fanbase we would all be singing andifferent tune.

I'm not so sure I'd feel differently if it was a player at a different program. Hard to say though.

I agree, he did it. I don’t believe what he did deserves the level of punishment you do. I think the context does matter and will matter when a judgement is handed down. Telling me that speeding to the hospital with my pregnant wife is still speeding isn’t what I’m debating.
Even then, though...this context is really, really bad.
It seems, and this is just what I am seeing here, that people are treating this like a normal bf/gf nude pic sent, etc and they were just teens and he accidently kept it or whatever. Thats not the case at all.
This was a big deal at the school when it happened. Authorities knew it had been shared and theres no way the students werent warned about it, the child porn thing, the kids getting in trouble, etc.... its not like Mo didnt know this was wrong to keep on his phone.
And then two years later at the age of 18 he sends it to her, maliciously? After the struggles getting into college and everything??

Youre right, context does matter. It seems the context isnt really being explored at all.

Since my last post on this topic I drove home from work, helped the wife fix supper, took the dog for a walk, played a game of COD Zombies, threw pitches to my 11 yo in the cage for 30 minutes, read a chapter of a book (not sold on it yet), watched the first half of Celtics/Sixers, ate some girl scout cookies, asked my freshman if he finished his homework, and now we're watching "Wonder Woman". Cripes people, ya think you've parsed this down far enough?

Exactly.

Even if you arent personally sure, which I will believe and take at your word, I think its safe to say the majority of the fan base would be laughing at the hypothetical school.

And we’d all be basing it off the click bate titles as many on here appear to do when they debate. With no emotional attachment to the player nobody would dig deeper or bother reading the entire article. Yes, we’d be idiots for coming to conclusion without all the facts.

"For you and everyone else who thinks it is okay to presume to know how she should feel and react, that is a garbage take and you people are trash. " - Husker Todd
I guess that means his take is garbage and he is trash as well, or he just got lit up.

Nice one!

Until proven guilty, yes. That’s how it works in this country.

If he’s guilty, it will come out in court
No one is claiming to boot him right now.
This discussion is about what should happen if the "alleged" is true. Always has been.

Wait, what? What an awful comparison? Do you want a redo or something?

If a headline read, Iowa player charged with distribution of child porn. I would be thinking, not surprising. Kick the sicko off the team. Which is what I think many are doing in this case. Then if I were to dig deeper, and see the situation involved I would hope my opinion would be the same as now. As I have said before, I don't think this is worth destroying a kids football career and life over. Doesn't matter if it is a Neb player or any player in my opinion.

Pot meet kettle?
If its idiodic to say that if all this turns out to be true he should be booted, then it must also be idiodic to be saying this is nothing warranting dismissal, no?
Since it isnt all out yet?
I and others have said numerous times, in different ways, that he is innocent until proven guilty. New stuff could come to light.

You know, I've had the exact same kind of mixed of emotions when stories from OU and other places have surfaced. As a person who wasn't exactly a model citizen in my youth, I have some empathy for young people who screw things up...as long as it isn't a repetitive thing. You get to be in your 20s and making some coin out in the real world and you act like an idiot, well then my empathy gets considerably less. Mo Washington will come out of this a little soiled but he'll still have football somewhere even if it's not at NU. Personally, I would bet given his relationship with TO and his intimate knowledge of the LP situation that Frost gives the kid another chance. We'll see. He'll take some heat if he does.

There will always be 2 sides to every issue or controversy. Both sides desperate to prove they are right and the other side wrong. Glade Im on the right side this time. :DRollingLaugh

So you have no opinion on whether or not he did it? So I expect you to not be included in any further discussion about this topic.

Na, one thing I have a strong opinion on is d-bags that like to pass judgement on things the don’t have all the facts on

It’s suppose to illustrate that context is important and that obviously not all speeding is the same. As is the case when it comes to other crimes. You can’t be that dense.

How many of you wanted to hang the Duke Lacrosse team?
Not me, but that was an incredibly different situation. However, if after the case they were guilty theyshould have been punished.
That was a rash decision, something Ive posted here that I hope the university doesnt make.

It could very well come out that he never did this, but its obvious they looked at her phone and records, so the text will show up.

IF the NFL can keep players around who beat up on women. I would think something like this should keep MO at Neb after a suspension probably.

You dont have all the facts, yet you are passing judgement. Just because your judgement is different, its still amjudgement without all the facts.
So are you a d-bag?

Would you please respond to my context reply to you? I dont think you have but I could have missed it. Genuinely curious what you think of how I see the context here.

All of the events in question took place before Mo enrolled at NU. It’s unclear to me what the Frost and Co knew about the incident before Mo arrived. Not sure what there is to punish. He was not with the program when this happened. Should Mo need to serve a period of the incarceration in CA, then his days as a Husker are almost sure to be over. But if it’s less than that (I assume he has no history of being afoul of the law), he gets a suspension.
Frost needs to do this kid a favor and tie his remaining with the team to some high end behavioral counseling. If the public reports are true, his actions were vindictive and also self-sabotaging. Scott talks a good game when it comes to player support. Will that be followed by meaningful help when it comes to Mo.

If I read Iowa player charged wit distribution of child porn, I would also be thinking, not surprising, kick the sicko off the team. But since I really don't care about Iowa football, I probably wouldn't dig much further at all. So my opinion would have remained, kick the sicko off the team. Which, in my opinion, is exactly what @jmliehr is saying when he brought up the polling be different depending on who was participating in the poll.

People keep bringing up Frost but this will be a university decision and not AD/football decision under student conduct rules IMO

This pot isn’t calling the kettle back. My opinion is about proper punishment if he is guilty. I’m assuming he is guilty. My opinion is if he kept and sent a video maliciously directly to an ex that a rational punishment is probation and a short suspension. I don’t think what he did warrants more than that especially given the precedents that have already been set with the others involved

But if you hit someone while speeding to the hospital and kill them, or your wife what happens? Intent matters along with context, did Washington know she claimed sexual assault before he sent the video? Did he know the video and fallout caused her to have issues before he sent the video? Did he, as she claims, try to shame/hurt her with the video before her parent saw the message?

If all\any of those are true would that change the way you feel about the consequences?

Student conduct would apply to something that happened before he was even accepted at NU?

Good point, I probably wouldn't have dug into it either. lol

Context matters and two committed crimes as juveniles compared to Washington as an adult. And punishment doesn’t always fit the crime, may have been circumstantial evidence in that case compared to clear documented records of what Washington allegedly did.

It seems he has officially been charged with possession of child porn. Though no arrest warrant has been issued.
My humble opinion is no. This is sounding more and more like his ex had a threesome, the boys spread it around to friends to brag. Mo being one of them one of those who was sent the video. She got caught and now to save embarrassment is claiming assault. The video should easily be able to tell if she was willing or not.
He tried to get back with her, she said she is not interested, he gets pissed. Sends the video and calls her a hoe.
This was a horribly stupid decision on his part. However, I would venture to guess if you go on any 14- 17 males phones you would find some sort of "child porn" on a high percentage of them. Mo shouldn't be labeled a sex offender for the rest of his life, nor have to suffer the rest of his life for a stupid teenage decision.

I find his actions deplorable - having the video, sharing the video, and the comments made while sharing the video with the young woman involved. As a father of daughters, I'm on the side of this is completely unacceptable, and "we are going to miss you, starting tomorrow."
