Second half game thread

Honestly perplexing....his INT when we still had a chance was really just unforgiveable....should have earned him a spot on the bench, but Mickey kept trotting him our for some reason....kid doesn't have it.

The play should have never been called.

Its freaking 3rd and 10

With a back up QB.

Run up the middle and kick the field goal.

he's really, really bad

zero semblance of leadership whatsoever

such a huge pussy on that last run avoiding blocking I almost thought it was @1Ramsker3 out there
yeah, because I won't defend this I'm a pussy. Just make sure and keep those pom poms fresh and that small bulge taped up @king_kong_ .

Illinois is better in every position on the field with the exception of WR and CT is better than the game manager, Devito. And yeah, we were driving, good teams persevere, they overcome mistakes. The mistake was the INT you dumbass, not the injury. Good teams have depth. Good teams don't make mental mistakes over and over. I'm all for Mickey but he inherited a really really bad team. Good teams have the ability to have game plans that can adapt to an injury (ie run the ball)

We were down 11 at the time...at some point you are going to have to try and convert a 3rd and long, no issue with the call, just the execution.

neither of these teams are good

the dickhead who used to be in charge should be at the bottom of a bear pit for not recruiting a quarterback since 2018

your post makes little sense within the context of the game we are both watching

It’s clear this team is not capable of running whips offense without CT. That’s not whips fault. Just a fact.

it's great to see - down 3 scores with less than 5 mins left - our guys still ringing some bells out there

42 just got knocked the F out!

Hey at least we won't lose by a lot. That might happen if we actually TRY and run our offense.

I officially don't want Mickey. Pussy trying not to lose by too much. Try to WIN if you want the job pussy.
Too far. I would like MJ to be apart of the program going forward, but he currently is not a head coach. Big strides with increasing the physicality of this team, but you need more.

what are you talking about?

All blame lies with the guy who was in charge for six years and failed to recruit barely any talent and failed to develop the talent he did manage to bring in.

Keep Mickey as WR/Associate/recruiter to whomever you hire or can get to take the job. But this is the age of free agency in college football, and this house otherwise needs to be cleaned at the player and coach level. Bielema has taken it very easy on us today.

That’s something a lot of potato heads on this board don’t see. When was the last time we had that?

We need talent on offense. A lot of it. Mickey can get that. Logan and Purdy aren’t D1 QBs

Yup. BB closed the playbook in the 2nd half. Just tried to get this game knocked out.

I think they're pretty equal in how bad they are
After CT's mistakes, and the way the offense has gone in the tank, it appears this team has no chance to win another game.

NU only can move the ball with CT, and when he makes mistakes that mitigates that advantage.

Purdy is incapable of leading the offense. Smothers is incapable of leading the offense.

This game will leave a lot of fans with "no hope" for the rest of the season.

Yuck.

whatever who cares I'm excited to make money fading illinois the next 3 weeks

they suck, I was right

time to watch the SEC

Very little reason to watch any of the rest of the Husker games, for me. But I probably will anyway because Saturday and WTF else am I gonna do. What a sucker.

This game is brutal. Illinois simply isn’t good. But hell, neither are we. Mickey can clap all he wants but in my opinion, but we should be handing the ball to grant about 30 times per game, so we can actually stay in games. 3 yds and a cloud of dust is 10x better than a 26-9 L at home vs Illinois. Recruiting is a problem, depth is a problem, toughness is a problem, the identity of our program right now is a problem.
But with respect to the players, it’s not their fault they’re here. Someone on Frost’s staff recruited them.
Mark Whipple can go too though. I would rather watch a high school fb offensive coordinator call plays than 50 drop backs per game right now. Pretty shitty.
Another abysmal season. Just disappointing and not acceptable. Embarassing loss after embarassing loss. Smh!

Brett B. has a championship level roster in year 2. Frost had a G5 roster after four years.

That would be great to see, but we don’t have that luxury – we need to find a proven winner.

Brett Bielema at Illinois is a perfect example how a good coach can turn around a program with no history and little resources. We need to find somebody who has done that, not somebody we “think” could do it.
EXACTLY. Love Mickey, but we don't have time to see about a hunch.

What are we seeing here? This is really rough to watch.
Nothing would have changed, but after both Purdy and Smothers had their 2 series each, and both equally stinking up the place, it was time for either Masker or Haarberg to show their skills.

Does it matter if NU loses 23-9 or 43-9? If neither Masker nor Haarberg doesn't know the offense by now, they never will. Let's see what they got, because #2 and #3 already showed us they have ZERO ability to lead this offense.

You can't begin to win in football if you can't overcome the mistakes an offense makes that put a weak defense on their heels the whole game.

What a suck ass program NU is.

If we even had just an average O-line we could be more competitive.

There is zero talent on this O-line. They have no business being on scholarship at the FBS level. It was just a matter of time before they got Casey injured. The season is pretty much over without CT. There is a huge drop off at QB after him.

Off the MJ bandwagon. No way he should be our coach. No ****ing way. Never. He can’t see that Chubba is not our best backup QB? My God he sucks. He is awful. And Grant is NOT our best running back
Who is better? At either spot? I think grant is far and away our best back. Backup qb? Who knows, they’re all about even
