Satterfield: A Look Inside the Numbers - Turnovers

The site where critical thinking is highly frowned upon and too much of it will get you banned. Seems like a great place for you.
You argue like a highschool bitch.

Here is the thread for anyone not afraid of scary opinions

Stolen from HuskerMax:

I can't argue with much of what he (Bud Elliot) said on Satterfield, but I think it is also tough to find evidence to support his claims, too. Mainly because Satterfield hasn't spent enough time anywhere to actually have time to develop "top end talent". I mean, which stop are you going to poke holes in? South Carolina, where he was only at for two seasons, and seemed to find a stride in the home stretch of the season? Temple, where he spent three seasons, and did most of the development on PJ Walker, who is now in the NFL? UT-Martin, where he spent three seasons, and coached one of the better FCS offenses?

Like I said, I wouldn't be wanting to try and win a debate on any of that criteria either. The truth of the matter is, I honestly don't know if he is the guy. There isn't anything that tells me he is or anything that tells me he isn't. Is he just middle of the road? Will we find out one way or another over the next season or two? Is vanilla good enough for where we want to be? I don't know.
So much of this is ridiculous. South Carolina improved in turnovers after he left - Nebraska got worse when he got here. He gets credit for PJ Walker? Ok - 56% career completion there. Had a year where he started every game and threw more INT than TD. He went undrafted. Why can’t Sat go somewhere and not finish at the bottom of his conference in turnovers per game? Why does he need 3 years or more to improve on turnovers, when other coaches can do it quickly?

Rattler had 4 less ints this year. 5th year player. Nothing groundbreaking.

Still trying to figure out how a RB/WR fumbling the ball is an OC thing. Or Purdy fumbling against Iowa. Or HH being stripped of the ball multiple times this year. Or Sims being Sims. What is the mechanism?

No Nebraska coach in the past 20 years has improved on turnovers "quickly". It's a cultural thing.

Actually the Satterfield offense culture is insanely high turnovers no matter where he’s been. So why would you have that guy in charge of a programs offense that has a “culture” of turning it over? Seems like a recipe for disaster.

correlation doesn't equal causation.

He has coached at some pretty average schools with average talent.

Riley was #14 in giveaways in 2016 so yeah he did pretty well in year two.

Like Nebraska? So how is it going to get better? I don’t see recruits lining up to play for him.
year 1 just ended. We shall see who we go after and who we can get.
The TOs this past year were mostly due to inept QB play by poor QBs.

what is the mechanism for which he has produced these turnover results?
Lack of emphasis/improper technique taught for ball security

Calling risky plays that put his players he’s responsible for coaching in a position to fail

The Chubba fumble is a perfect example

Carrying the ball like that in game 12 after a year’s worth of work with your QB coach shows the world what doesn’t matter to him enough to change it

Years and years and years of different players producing the same turnover results isn’t correlation/causation. It’s a legitimate trend.

They are emphasizing ball control technique as can be seen by players crossing their arms heading into contact and the endzone.

Risky plays like throwing a basic slant route that HH missed badly?

Chubba running for a first down with both hands on the football and fumbling is a good example? Doesn't matter enough for him to change it? Pure speculation.

No, Chubba running with the ball like a loaf of bread he just stole is a good example. Flailing about constantly.

The technique is improper. Rhule was quoted saying HH carries the ball exactly how they teach it. Went so far as calling it “beautiful”.

Oops leads the country in fumbles.

Oops lead the conference in turnovers every year satt is OC.

PS sorry your thread got deleted. Seemed to garner at least a tiny fraction of the reaction you were hoping for. Next time!

What HH fumbles were you upset about in terms of ball control technique?
The 2 where he got manhandled and ripped at by the defender?

Off the top of my head, the one against Purdue

Also a risky play call after he had his bell rung the play before

The Satterfield daily double

Do you fault HH for anything? Serious question? Or is it always someone else's' fault?
Of course. If you had any interest in what I have to say you’ll see many, many posts of mine following the MSU game stating Haarberg played like shit.

You’ll also see a post from me cussing HH out for his INT against Maryland in the game thread.

But you’re not interested in that.

Already asked him. Won't answer. Just keeps asking if I've watched a video
