It really is a rough way to end the year. I however, do think it has been a fun last run. You have Moose chasing the home run record, Hosmer having the best year of his career, the emergence of Whit, Dayton going all in at the deadline (even if it ultimately failed). Players struggling to make that last playoff spot who should probably be on the DL, but they fight anyway because they all know what happens when this season ends. This is the beauty of sport, especially when you desperately don't want to let down the players next to you.
Remember, only 5 of the 15 teams in the AL make the playoffs each year, and 1 of those teams are done after 1 game. So if you equate success with playoffs each year, especially with small market teams, more often than not, your going to be disappointed.
My suggestion. Enjoy the next couple of weeks. The rebuild begins after that, and most of the guys that brought the best of times to KC will be gone.
