says they're making kicks in practice, but this is quite the quote nonetheless a mere 8 days from kickoff
The full quote he talks about having 2 unproven guys and who he thought would be the starter is hurt. I listened to the full presser and it is the exact same thing as the entire team. We have to go prove we are a good team in game 1. Nothing matters until the game. The new JUCO kicker could be an absolute stud, but we have no idea until he kicks.says they're making kicks in practice, but this is quite the quote nonetheless a mere 8 days from kickoff
Nothing worse than a team taking 8 plays, driving 45 yards into FG range, and then missing a chip shot.I feel like kicker is a position that is always overlooked in both recruiting and the NFL draft. As a Rams fan, the kicking game suffered greatly after Matt Gay left. Before him, the Rams had Greg Zuerlein, who was a stud before his play declined.
Having a good kicker is an immeasurable weapon to have. It's a near-guaranteed three points whenever the team is in range, and basically an automatic touchback on kickoffs. At least it used to be before they changed kickoffs in the NFL.
Coaches don't seem to notice this until they don't have this luxury anymore. It's one of the most important positions on the entire team that is always underrated, it seems. And I'm always like, if you luck out and find a good kicker, do whatever you can to hang on to him.

FYI our starter kicked at practice the other day.The full quote he talks about having 2 unproven guys and who he thought would be the starter is hurt. Yeah, but not kicking off and they are bringing him along really really carefully.FYI our starter kicked at practice the other day.
How is it that we manage to get our kickers injured so often?Yeah, but not kicking off and they are bringing him along really really carefully.
Weird how the world works. There was a time when we always had the best kicker... Now nothing. There also was a time when Omaha produced elite tailbacks... Now nothing. How is it that we manage to get our kickers injured so often?
I will never understand this

I don’t care who kicks, just make themWho do you think will kick FG's in the first game?
I would imagine every one can put into the endzone.I don’t care who kicks, just make them
And hopefully we’re ready to cover kickoffs because I’m guessing none of the kids we have can put it through the endzone
based on our special teams play over the past 2 decades, I wouldn'tI would imagine every one can put into the endzone.
We probably put the ball in the endzone last year just as muck as the rest of the big ten teams.based on our special teams play over the past 2 decades, I wouldn't
and don't
we have 1 scholarship kicker and when he's not busy missing kicks he's hurt
And now that guy is hurt & wont be kicking offWe probably put the ball in the endzone last year just as muck as the rest of the big ten teams.
This 1000%. Our scholarship kicker was (charitably) lousy last year. Now he’s hurt and on the NCAA version of a “prove it” deal.we have 1 scholarship kicker and when he's not busy missing kicks he's hurt
Alvano has tons of talent and an NFL legThis 1000%. Our scholarship kicker was (charitably) lousy last year. Now he’s hurt and on the NCAA version of a “prove it” deal.
Even the most reasonable goals for this team are in question if we continue to miss 40 yard field goals.
Kickers are delicate flowers, man.How is it that we manage to get our kickers injured so often?
I will never understand this
Agreed, but he has to make kicks.Alvano has tons of talent and an NFL leg
Love this shit. Your posts are a form of art. Subtle, yet very direct.Alvano has tons of talent and an NFL leg
What the bald fat guy in charge of special teams does all day remains a mystery
100% agree.I feel like kicker is a position that is always overlooked in both recruiting and the NFL draft. As a Rams fan, the kicking game suffered greatly after Matt Gay left. Before him, the Rams had Greg Zuerlein, who was a stud before his play declined.

You and me both bro.says they're making kicks in practice, but this is quite the quote nonetheless a mere 8 days from kickoff
And sell it for a nickel.Put Coke back in the stadium so things come all of the way back!
I was watching him at the open practice but I didn't realize it was him. I thought to myself, I hope we don't have to go to the backup punter cause this guy does not look good. And that was with BB shanking about every third or fourth kick.Has anyone heard anything about Koch? I have high hopes for him but haven't heard him mentioned.
Isn’t Alvano like the second kicker in 4 years that a kicker got hurt? Out of all of Rhule coaches foley has been the most disappointing oneHow is it that we manage to get our kickers injured so often?
I will never understand this
Special Teams need to show some improvement this year.Isn’t Alvano like the second kicker in 4 years that a kicker got hurt? Out of all of Rhule coaches foley has been the most disappointing one
Not a fan of Foley at all. Nothing against the guy personally, I am sure he is a great guy. But if you’re going to have a dedicated ST coach you really should be very good there and they REALLY need to be one of your best recruiters and he clearly is not, I don’t think he even leaves the state. At least he is old and hopefully going to retire soon.Isn’t Alvano like the second kicker in 4 years that a kicker got hurt? Out of all of Rhule coaches foley has been the most disappointing one
