Ok, I get it. He's a 5 star QB and he doesn't play defense (which is another topic). But let's look at this game and his season performance.
USC didn't have much of any pass rush. We had one blown block sack given up. The OL which is always trashed on here was controlling the line for the most part.
And yes, our receivers aren't elite. But they were getting open many times and Raiola just didn't throw their way. He throws frequently into tight coverage as if he just hopes for either a contested catch or a penalty. Why? We should have had at least one more TD if he bothered to look to the left and hit the wide open guy.
I bought into the hype. I thought he was a Trevor Lawrence and we would win now. But even Lawrence can run and plays with a determined edge. I don't see that right now from Raiola. He looks nonchalant.
I would have benched him. I think his development requires it. I think we need more competition in the QB room. Everyone needs to fear for their job. Period.
