Preacher Rhule Really Say This?

It DID bother me that Rhule defended his decision to go for the TD at the end of the first half, with what, 11 seconds left?

For me that was as big a WTF moment as the onside kick heard all over Ireland. I just don't get it or agree with either decision.
You play to win. I don’t have a problem with going for it there

I didn’t see that as high risk - if it wasn’t there right away you throw to the stands - but it was there with the TE. Our senior QB should have known better.

They have maybe 2 Heisman candidates if they keep putting up the numbers they are. Sanders and Hunter.
I was told those kids are HBCU players who, along with their coach, would struggle at the P5 level

now they're leading a top 10 team?

something doesn't add up

I hope this isn't a hedge from someone who's already chalking up an L this week

seems my decision to tune Preacher Rhule out during the week is already paying dividends

I expect to play well on Saturday.

This is my fear too. Namely, that Rhule is building up CU in order to soften the blow of another loss. Still, I think this is a stretch, since Rhule is a fierce competitor and I am sure he thinks we have a good chance of knocking these guys off. In fact, another possible interpretation is that he feels good about our chances of winning and wants to build up CU in order to make our win, if it happens, all the more noteworthy.

I wouldn't put CU that high but won't kill anyone who does either. I don't get people who think TCU sucks...they don't. They had chances to win..their well coached..they'll be fine.

Exactly. My problem with the play other than who he threw it to was how many bodies were in the area. IF Sims makes a better decision there it’s a moot point BUT the spacing of the receivers made it easy for that DB to peel back and make the pick.

it was an elementary high/low concept with 2 receivers - one at the back of the end zone, one in the front

sims either predetermined his read or just didn't see the defender

please don't act like it was any different than it was

6th graders execute that same concept every week of the football season

What coach in his right mind wouldn't take a shot in the endzone with 11 seconds left?

yes

the people who want to kick a FG on 3rd down with plenty of time don't know football

didn't work out, but was the right decision and a good play call - Boerk was wide open

There were 3 receivers in that side of the endzone. The guy who made the int peeled off a receiver near the goal pylon didn’t he? I think you’re right that Sims should have gone to Boerkircher.

The number one concern I have going forward is Sims’ field vision and decision making. That’s over every other weakness we have including coaching. We had multiple instances where criticized play calls were there if Sims had executed. ☹️

An old Barry Switzer mind game was to build up your opponent in the early part of the week. Give them confidence from their opponent.
Then late in the week state your opponent is good but his Sooners were better.

Really like to mess with their minds.

3 on that side of the formation, 2 in the concept

one could also say this is reason for optimism moving forward

Sims made an incredibly bad decision and then the throw wasn't very good.

If you're gonna throw that route, it needs to be on the back pylon where only your receiver has the chance to make a play.

Sims is gonna be what holds the offense back. That tiger isn't changing his stripes this late in his career.

I didn’t have an issue going for it with 11 seconds left. What you can’t do is turn it over in that situation. We had an open receiver (#87) right over the goal line and he didn’t see him.

Trying to justify his 0-1 and probable 0-2 start. He knows a good coach would start 4-0 with this schedule.

0-2? We will be lucky to win 4 games this year. We are that bad. i do not see any improvement from Mickey Joseph coaching last year. Actually, I think the coaching is worse and Rule makes 9 million a year??? Almost every College Football team I watched over the weekend on TV was better than Nebraska. We are in trouble!!!
