Preacher Rhule is a Coward

I think it takes more guts to continue to start a turnover machine vs taking the easy road, blame Sims for the losses, and start the backup because of public pressure. Rhule doubled down. Like it or not, Rhule has a vision for this team/season and he is sticking to it. I might like that better than using the Sims injury to justify the change…..which he could have easily done.

who's moron:

the guy who's been calling for change since 5/1/2021 through 4 QBs and 3 head coaches

OR

the guy who literally watched his team piss down its leg for 2 games and says he's going to double down
Who's the moron? The guy demanding immediate results from a new coach that was handed a roster with limited talent? Coach Rhule has made two bad moves, bringing in Sims and not fully embracing Casey and hiring Satterfield. He will learn from this. You have to like the improvement in physicality, the defense & the special teams. There is only one Deion. Name me one other coach that has the carisma and could come close to the turn around he is in the middle of. We need to be patient with Rhule, he will get there. Look at how FSU's patience is now paying off. Expecting immediacy is simply idiotic.

The roster is good enough to be 4-0 with halfway decent qb play. That's what people don't understand. There is no point in losing games on purpose. Sims isn't a freshman. New offense or not this is getting comical. You can't make this up with how we turn the ball over. Why does he have standards for Grant but not Sims?

White inherited the roster and coaches and look how disciplined the D looks. Satterfield hired his coaches and picked the qb and look at the O. Very skeptical of Satterfield after 2 games.

I don't get your point. Losing games on purpose? NFW No one is doing that. I don't disagree that the roster is good enough that they could have made it to the Michigan game being 4-0. The standard for Sims is probably different than the one for Grant because there is no one behind Sims at all. Like I said, the biggest misses by Rhule to date was to let Casey walk out the door and hiring an inept OC.

In fairness, Rhule was talking about doubling down on their process to fix in-game issues. I can see where it’s easy to take the quote and associate it to QB play but after listening to the entire press conference he spoke about not changing his process and convictions when times get tough but doubling down.

I know he wins pressers - I believe in him - or maybe I’m watching too much Ted Lasso - either way he’s our coach, he wants to be here and he isn’t going anywhere any time soon. GBR!

I don't give a sh*t what Rhule preaches during pressers

he will be judged by the team he puts on the field, and rightfully so

Oh - I get it and know where you stand - hence your nickname for him. Folks piecing quotes together to say that he’s doubling down on QB who turns the ball over was absolutely not the message from the press conference.

So if you aren’t going to listen to press conferences - I would recommend not taking quotes from said press conferences to then help justify an opinion …. if your opinion is solely going to be based with on-field performance.

I never pieced those two things together

they are both - on their own - laughable

I just don't think they could hitch their wagon to CT, coming off a major surgery to his throwing arm. To me the issue wasn't going after a portal QB, it was choosing Sims.

I also wonder why Rhule picked Satt over Glen Thomas for OC, when he chose Thomas over Satt at Baylor and had so much success.

I think you should at least be able to agree when things have gotten difficult at work or in other aspects of life that you maintain your convictions and the processes you know work and are sound. You don’t change with the way the wind blows when there is adversity.

So on it’s own merit there is at least one that isn’t laughable.

only if what you're doing has worked or could work

rhule is a .500 college coach and the OC is 5 for 5 in leading his conference in turnovers lost

they need to do the opposite of what's produced those results, not double down on it

A coach who actually reflects on his own performance? Is humble enough to say what he did wrong and acknowledge that to an entire state that is pissed? I think that’s good leadership.

Conversely our last coach threw players under the bus, bitched and moaned for 3 years about the staff before him.

Which answer would you rather have? Which leader would you rather follow?

I prefer people who practice what they preach

not just preach

not working on silent counts ahead of the most anticipated home opener in CU history is shocking

I've not been a huge fan of Carriker's weekly videos, his delivery just isn't my thing. But, his video title roped me in this week, something along the lines of "something has to change." I'm glad I watched this week for one thing he said.

Paraphrasing, it was, "No disrespect to Coach Rhule, I don't care about anything he says this week. I only care about what I see next Saturday. Something needs to change at the QB position." Amen.

It's unbelievable to me that people CONTINUE to support coach after coach at this program that run out fatally flawed QB's that sabotage the other guys that are putting in the work. It's a joke and I'm sick of it.

Cry like a 2 year old on the internet and get treated like one. Pushing the panic button more on year 1 of a rebuild and call MR a coward, real mature. Your credibility goes out real quick pal.

this is year 8 of the rebuild, bud

try and keep up

I'm betting the farm that I won last weekend with Colorado on the NI Huskies. I have nothing to lose!

Yes. Real courage is found in those calling out a coach on an anonymous message board who has had great success elsewhere sticking with the process that has worked for him regardless of outside criticism.
Too lazy to look it up but I’m pretty sure year 1 at both programs Rhule turned around he played young QB’s with promise and let them get experience. He didn’t run out a veteran guy making the same old mistakes year after year. This is not the same process.

what kind of message is this to your team?

I suggest you listen to the press conference rather than just go off of the partial quotes.

Pretty simple...
  1. Jeff Sims is the starting quarterback
  2. If he were healthy he would be out there working with the 1's
  3. Jeff has to protect the football and not turn it over.
Seems pretty basic and clear cut to me. Starting quarterback is healing up and has been turning the ball over too much. Needs to fix it.

"great success":

47-45 overall, 1-2 in bowl games, zero wins over P5 teams in the top 25

Makes you wonder if

A) He doesn’t think we have young QB with promise on the roster.

B) He is protecting Sims publicly and will use his “injury” as an excuse to give HH a shot this week.

How is it emotional to want to see if another qb can play or not? I would call it common sense. It's not like Sims dies or anything if HH gets a few series. It's pure insanity at this point to not at least see what HH has. What would be the downside?
The downside would be that you are playing a first-year starter, so you would have to tolerate a lot of mistakes on his part, interceptions, poor hand-offs, fumbles, mental mistakes etc.
In other words, you will have the same problems as you do with Sims in a less talented player.

I don’t know who the best QB on the team is. Maybe it is Sims.

But I don’t understand how you can’t give HH a chance. Especially when you stated, very publicly, that guys won’t play if they turn the ball over. Sims has been a freaking turnover machine.

By what standard is this roster that good? Transfer QB, walk on receivers, walk on o-lineman, young TE coming off two knee injuries, no proven RB besides Grant who can't hold onto the ball. The o-line has unfortunately not improved to date so tell me where the strength in this O lies?

Someone who goes by tough guy names like king kong, Rambo and Top Gun calls a coach a "Coward" on a message board. I am sure you could ask to be part of the coaching decision during the week on who to start, just use your considerable persuasive influence to contact coach Rhule and talk it over with you, especially given your coaching credentials.

Or the guy that thinks any coach can take Sims, HH and/or Purdy and move the ball with any consistency. Lackluster offensive line (especially in pass pro), below average receiving corp. nobody on the roster is going to be able to move the ball consistently. HH isn’t the answer. We don’t have a Qb on the roster than can excel. That said - that’s on the coaching staff. QB room is rough. Tough puzzle to figure out.

one of Rhule's first decisions when he arrived was to retain the OL coach in hopes we'd land his nephew, the #1 recruit

I don't even necessarily disagree with that choice, but it sure looks foolish now
