Pelini angling for the Purdue job...?

Bo will need to put Youngstown back on the map in a big way to get called up to a worthwhile Power 5. He's not there yet. Maybe in 2 years. The unbridled rage and flying spittle are just too fresh in our memories.

I still question why he would leave YSU anyway. He is home, in a low stress low profile job, still drawing a huge check.

If he has invested wisely he could quit tomorrow and live the rest of his life quote comfortably
EGO. Deep down inside he knows he is a failure professionally.

- Fired from his first head coaching job with ZERO championships to show.
- Had ZERO opportunities at P5 schools after he was kicked out the door.
- Was not even remotely considered for his alma mater when the HC position came up.
- He will never be viewed as anything more than a above average DC.

EGO is the reason he would leave. Now the big question - is there any P5 schools that will take a chance on this time bomb?

Big Red fact check. NU has 5 MNCs and several Heismans and conference titles. How many of any of those did Pelini get or play for? How many embarrassing one sided losses to ranked teams did he have? Since teams now play 13 games, including a bowl, shouldn't wins be upgraded to 10 per year from the 9 coach Osborne won? NU and her fans deserved much better than Pelini was ever going to give, unless he was gonna luck into something after 15-20 years on the job or a major stoke/heart attack, which ever came first.

I have a idea let's live in the 90s some more. I think Bo did a good job turning this around and beat some pretty good teams. Yes he needed to reign in his emotions and get better at recruiting, but he won a lot of games with some mediocre talent (his own fault) but he never lost to Illinois or Purdue. He definitely has flaws, I agree we needed to move on and love HCMR , but Bo is a excellent football coach and I wish him luck in the future

, Muschamp, Charlie Weis just two off the top of my head that had a second chance and had the same issue on the sidelines and they did not have half the wins...I'd rather take Pelinis character over Bobby Petrinos any day of the week and he still got another shot

Not sure why either side would be interested in the other. Purdue is an awful job, and Bo, in addition to other issues, is not a coach who can win at this level without NFL-caliber talent.

Purdue should hire the best up-and-coming offensive coordinator that will take the job. Someone like Lincoln Riley at OU or Tim Drevno from Michigan.

Character, sure. Coaching talent, give me Petrino any day of the week.

Wow...some of you sound like a 13 year old girl that just got dumped.
Honestly, some of the comments here are pretty much the behavior that most claim to hate in Bo.

If he has a chance for the Purdue job or not, who really cares all that much?

At Purdue, you just need to make a bowl game. He could do that consistently there, IMO. Nobody has any idea if it will be Purdue, but he'll get his 2nd chance.

The biggest question is will Purdue take on Carl? And if not, will Bo be willing to not take Carl with him?
The question is whether significant others among the booster base are willing to take on Carl? What a crazy hire this would be for any B1G team in my opinion - so you hire for negative press?

How about Tim Beck as HC. He is an up and comer who is studying under Meyers. Bo for DC. That way he wouldn't have to recruit!
Don't scoff at Beck for a HC position. I'm not sure he would interview well, but the guy is a very organized coach and his offenses put up big numbers with a QB not of his chosing and meddling by a bonehead head coach. Beck is a very good recruiter and would probably be a big upgrade for Purdue from an organizational and offensive standpoint. I said before Bo was canned that I would be fine with them canning Bo and promoting Beck. Beck should be a head coach somewhere. Look at the offensive skill position guys that Beck was largely responsible for bringing to NU. And I GUARANTEE that Beck would NEVER hire Bo as his DC.

I love the speculation. The reality is Bo is toxic. 99% of the Athletic Directors do not want a guy who does a Donald routine on them.

Yeah. This isn't just about football. If it was, you could make a case for Bo. But no AD wants to have to earn their coach's respect on a weekly basis. No AD wants a coach who is going to tell an room full of college kids that he's a c***. It's not worth the headache. Not if there is anybody else available.

I actually think Bo is a decent defensive coordinator, and not as horrible of a coach as many on here believe. But he is a terrible employee. I wouldn't hire him to get my coffee.

This can't be true. Bo never looks for other jobs. And he loves living in Youngstown "America's armpit" Ohio.
Plus he turned down at least 100 other Division 1 head-coaching jobs after he was canned here.

The idea that Purdue would even be interested in Pelini is laughable. They are trying to upgrade their coaching status, not turn it over to a red faced, spittle spewing, adolescent man.

No way. Purdue has none of the built in advantages that Nebraska does. He'd struggle big time at Purdue.

So one guy had an affair with an assistant.

The other guy talked bad about the fans,AD, and embarrassed the university on the football field with tantrums , almost hitting an official, and profanity laced press conferences.

Character????

You rather have a guy who cheats on his wife than someone who get mad at fans for booing him, curses and make mad faces? I'd rather have HCMR than both, but if I was Purdue I would give HCBP a hard look. He has passion for his job and knows how to win with mediocre talent.... with that comes a lot of sideline antics and bad recruiting....not like Purdue is going to get dantonio or something.
