Other Games

I never count out the SEC when it comes to getting something they shouldn't.
I am in no way predicting a 3 loss sec team won’t get in. I’m saying they shouldn’t. If Georgia loses today, they get a bye or they’re out. No debate from anyone there. The question is bama and ole miss. No way they deserve to get in. Loses to Kentucky, Florida, vandy and Oklahoma. OUT! (But they’ll get in)

This game would still mean nothing if the playoffs weren't expanded.
Georgia is 9-2. They can lose to Tech, fall to 9-3, beat Texas in the conference championship and be an automatic qualifier for the expanded playoffs. Not only an automatic qualifier, but receive a first round bye.

Under the previous 4-team playoff, no 3-loss team ever stood a chance at making it, not even the SEC champion.

The game against Tech means nothing to Georgia in the big scheme of things and the explanded playoffs are the reason.

Also, under the previous 4-team playoff, Georgia would absolutely have to win against Tech and in the SEC championship against Texas to have a chance at making the playoffs. The Tech game would have still had meaning (a lot of it).

The SEC champion would not be left out of a 4-playoff. Especially one that beat Texas twice.

I hate this OT format so much, alternating 2 point conversions. I think I’d rather see a tie after 2 OT’s than this and I hate ties
The entire purpose of going to the format was to save time, and yet... they still switch fields, take their sweet ass time getting lined up, and there's timeouts.

Need to take all that crap away, have a running play clock the second the previous play ends and line up and go.

They should at least make it interesting - like let’s stick with the play clock. You gotta run the offense and defense on and off field alternating every play. Bang, bang, bang, get this shit over with.

Agreed. There was 1, maybe 2 games that went on too long in 20 years. With the old format, most overtimes ended in 1-3 OTs at most. I’d be interested to see how much real time this format takes vs the old format.
