OT - YouTube TV

We recently switched from Direct to YouTube. We really like it. Some things a bit funky like the DVR deal as it records a lot. We miss a few channels like Grit and Inspiration. There are so many shows on these free apps but you have to go back and forth.

A nice feature is you can have three TVs going at a time. When we go out of town to the farm we can watch it there now and we have our daughter on it in Colorado under our name.

We have YouTubeTV.
Pros:
1. You'll never have to reboot a cable box again.
2. Damn near unlimited DVR. You can watch something live while recording 10 other shows.
3. This is a big one. The fast forward is by far the best of all other platforms. (Yeah, try and fast forward on Amazon Prime when you're trying to watch Thursday night football. Absolute BS)

Cons:
1. No History channel.

Cons: No MLB network (or Royals regional)

Pros: Literally everything else.

I will say, based upon my experience with my in-laws in their mid-70's - it's hard for some people of a certain age to adjust to the no "channel numbers" thing. I love YTTV for many reasons, but one of the best is that it's a Google product and is easily managed via a Google account. If you've spent an hour or more on the phone dicking with DTV you know what I'm talking about.

Switched from Dish/Direct to YouTube about 2.5 years ago. Recommend. The DVR is a bit wonky but it's nice having everything stored online. You do have to have reliable streaming internet with enough bandwidth for the feed, but most people have that now.

Youtube TV is great

Pros
Unlimited DVR
Easy to navigate
All the sports you want
No contract

Cons
Honestly none for me
Would add the multi view has been a game changer. Watching four games at once is awesome!

Husker games I watch just the big red but will flip to multi view at commercials and then I know exactly when the game is coming back. Can’t say enough about the multiview for college Saturday!!!

Going to have get a monster TV for multiview now.
Switching the sound on muliview has been particularly nice in election season.

Curious of anybody’s made the switch from a service like DIRECTV to YouTube TV? If so, would you mind sharing your thoughts?

Pros?

Cons?

Thanks in advance.
One of my daughters has it. For the cost I wouldn't switch from my dish network.

Just can't get the channels we like to watch. Maybe eventually

I have zero idea why I still have DirecTV other than pure laziness.

It's expensive, and I hate everything they are about.
This is LITERALLY me!

Every April I suspend my DirectTV until late August and I just watch stuff on my laptop. Then late August I fire DirectTV back up and start paying for it again. I am literally insane.

I don't watch a ton of TV and I don't have a wife that needs to watch her shows on killing people. So I can go without for the summer.

I love the four multi screen set up on game day.
No Worries Waiting GIF

When they say unlimited DVR they mean it. I have it record every NCAA football game that is available to record as well as NFL games. The multiview is great but still wish you could pick the games you want to watch. I also like the option to catch up on games watching key plays.

I use it only during football season and then you can pause it for 6-7 months and easily resume once it’s close to football season again.

I'm in the process of switching from dish network to youtube tv. Zero regrets personally. Of there is a bit of learning. UI is different etc. I watch huskers, friends at night, and occasional late night sports.

I use a logitech harmony remote paired with my 4k onn box in bedroom and a verizon stream tv box (both android tv) in my living room.

My recommendation is to not use your built in tv app. Get an apple tv, or android tv box of your chosing.

Probably a roku (highest tier) or walmart onn 4k or 4k pro. Your experience will be better.

PS, if your wife needs lifetime or LMN, youtube doesn't have it, but there is another service that does. FRNDLY TV. It has about 50 channels including military history.

I think it starts at 6.99 a month if you do a yearly plan. There are 3 tiers you can chose from.

There is another streaming service. Frndly tv. Starts at i think 6.99 a month but check prices. Includes history, military history, and lifetime/lmn for the mrs. It's what I used to sell my family on switching.

I recently got an onn device to try since the firetv devices have their glitches all the time. The onn device works really well! Seems to repond faster and not lag as much.

got you tube tv when it first came to Omaha..now I just use someone else's pass word..(free)
it and regular tv has all NU games..(except retard peacock games, 1 per year)
has big 10 network, sec...(no longhorn network)

besides peacock retard games, it's a ace

the interesting thing is you can basicly stream most college football games on regular you tube..
and one guy who does it alot is a asian kid in some asian country...and he's got at least 6k people watching his channel..and he allways shows himself on cam at the end of the game.

Weird - I switched to DirecTV streaming last month (from cable) and can’t believe I didn’t do it sooner. It came down to DTV or YTTV, I went with DTV so I could get the Royals. But I get why people prefer streaming now.

I switched to YouTube TV last year. I like it, but since no MLB Network or Royals games, I don't love it.

As others have said, watching games in multi-view is great.

Also, it travels. We just log onto it while at the Mesa AZ house.
