OT-The hateful 8....

Good movie, classic tarantino, bloody, crazy, long. Better than Django. Loved Kurt Russell and Samuel L. Jackson in this movie.

Russell and Jackson really complimented each other's character.

I have always loved QT movies. Some more than others. This was the first one I remember being bored by. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. It seemed like QT thought it would be cool to make a bloody western version of Clue. It was too long and dragged on and on at times. I didn't like it.

Judging by your handle I'll assume you know QT. I can safely say he's my favorite writer/director. That said could not agree more with you. Wouldn't say I didn't like it, but would put it way down my QT list. Pulp Fiction is my favorite flick of all time. This would be ahead of the Kill Bill's and nothing else in the Tarantino catalog IMO.

I like your list but have mine a little different.
1.Reservoir Dogs 2. Pulp Fiction 3. Kill Bill 2 4. Basterds 5. Jackie Brown 6. Kill Bill 1 7. Django 8. Death Proof 9. Hateful 8. Honorable mention would be True Romance which was written by him. It would probably fit right in at 3 if it was totally his. Thats my opinion though.

It wasn't good. Some good acting, costumes, guns. But bad plot and script, imo. I didn't think it was slow or long.....just bad. Disappointing for sure.

Watched a lot of flicks over break. Sicario is an absolute must-see. #1 movie of the year for me. Concussion is so-so. Hateful 8 is awesome, vintage QT. Spotlight is excellent. Was a little bored with Legend and couldn't finish it.

It's a little older, but watched Southpaw... Pretty good flick.

Just when you think QT has shocked the hell out of you in every way he can, this happens.
I'm glad you liked it.
Personally, I thought it was an awful big stretch and it is at this point the movie lost me, and some others left the theater. I think this was too big of a reach for many QT fans.
I found it gawd awful.

Kill Bill vol. 2 over vol. 1??

I doubt I'll see it. I think Tarantino is a one trick pony and I saw Pulp Fiction.

I gotta say that my favorite of Tarantino's, by far, is Inglorious Basterds. See it. You won't be disappointed. As someone else mentioned, the campy dialogue that has worn a lot of people out when they see his movies, is fairly minimal. Christopher Waltz and Brad Pitt are exceptional in this flick.

Agree with RedSea, I'm not a hater of Tarantino's movies per se, but all of his movies I've seen are structured around some revenge narrative. The main protagonist(s) achieves this revenge gratuitously, and there is generally some good dialogue or stylistic elements that give it that additional Tarantino quality and flavor. Some view these elements as something akin to Tarantino masturbating to the violence in his script, as do I, while others think they really do make his movies great. I don't expect Hateful 8 to be any different, which is not to say that I think it will be bad, but I do think it will be derivative and not great because of it. I own and enjoy Inglorious Bastards, find it entertaining, and watch it somewhat frequently. But that has more to do with the fact that I am a total World War II geek and definitely not because I think Tarantino is some god at film-making.

We spent 3 days in Lincoln last week and saw 3 movies in 2 days. The Hateful 8 was 3 hours+ and decided not to because f the length. Instead we saw Joy, Sisters, & Daddy's Home. All 3 were actually pretty good. Plus I had my first "5 Guys Burger". If you ever get a chance, hit the newer theater in Lincoln on 11th & P street. It's fantastic. A restaurant & a bar.

I don't care if it is the greatest movie ever produced, I wouldn't go see it because i don't want a dime of my money going to Tarantino the cop-hating scumbag. The deplorable things this Hollywood weasel has said about the brave public servants that protect the public every day are sick and shameful. He loves to produce violence, murder mayhem in his movies, but criticize the heroes that in real life put their lives on the line to protect us from that... are friggin serious!? Completer loser! Don't give him your money people.

This is the most ridiculous and off-base post I've seen on here in a while. You have no clue what you're talking about. Period.

Why? Tarantino has said some bad things about cops, and it's his choice to spend or not spend his money how he pleases. You've never purchased or not purchased a product or service because of the producer? Lots of people do it.

He spoke out against police brutality. If you are for police brutality, I have no respect for you. I'm not addressing you personally, just in general. Those in favor of police brutality are pond scum. Period.

I think everyone is against police brutality, I think some just question both his words and what is and is not brutality.

Wow. Hot take bro. Police brutality is bad. I think the point he was making was police brutality is not done is some vacuum. There are lots of variables and grey areas which police are forced to include themselves. QT recently mentioned in an interview that all cops are basically racist and his example give was the Chicago shooting in the news. The cop that shot the dude with the knife arrived at the scene and shot the kid within seconds of getting out of his car, even though there were eight (how ironic) other cops yelling commands at the kid. He said the eight other cops were complicit in their silence.? There was an investigation and charges. Eight other cops didn't shoot the guy, and all likely testified. How is that silence?

I can assure you that anytime force is used, an investigation is done and sometimes punishment handed out just to make the public happy. Anytime somebody dies in police involvement, an even bigger investigation is done and a grand jury hearing is done by a jury of your peers. Have you ever been involved in a grand jury? It is brutal. Every police killing involves one of these. Sorry to go on forever, but my point is when cops actually have to go to this extreme, there is a lengthy investigation. QT had the nerve to say in his rich white neighborhood, he has never had an issue with cops, but he just knows it is different in Inglewood. He knows. I suggest if he really wants to know, he should do a six month ride along with LAPD, and his eyes would be wide open. It is actually disappointing that he will never do this. It would make for the greatest QT movie he has ever written and directed.

Police brutality is bad, m'kay. You shouldn't support police brutality. If you do, you're bad, because police brutality is bad, m'kay. It's a bad thing to support police brutality, so don't be bad by supporting police brutality, m'kay. That'd be bad.

For having such a high IQ (reportedly 160), QT sure did say some dumb things, and develops some pretty vacuous plots. Sometimes his dialogue borders on an adolescent perspective.

When he read off the name Michael Brown as a victim of police brutality it was actually QT who proved he had no idea what he was talking about, and his choice of words during that hate filled speech he gave left a lot to be desired. I think he's a dick and I won't spend any of my money to go see anymore of his work either.

I hope he needs police assistance at some point and the officer doesn't respond.
