OT: Purple mattress/alternatives

Im guessing most of these are memory foam.

Sleep hot?

Also for those that have had them awhile how are they holding up? Have heard memory foam can degrade over time and not "bounce back" like it's supposed to. Develop valleys etc. Noticing any of this?

Why you just don’t get foam, you get the ones called hybrid

One thing I didn't like about the bed in a box -- obviously if they can be crammed in a box they don't have a lot of rigid structure. Most of the time the bed holds up just fine but if you like sleeping on the edge of the bed, or sitting on the edge of the bed, it will give way. A lot.

I found a cheapo all foam mattress for $250 at the local mattress outlet. Jamison is the brand and I got the extra firm. It's one step away from plywood, which is what I wanted. So far so good. It's winter so maybe I'll need to consider a topper this summer.

Computers are also a fad. We're going back to IBM Selectircs and carbon paper. I can almost smell the toner from the mimeograph machine now.
