Very interesting new limited series on Netflix all about the OJ murder trial.
Worth a watch.

Is it worth a Netflix subscription? Dumped Netflix to pick up paramount to watch landman, now that’s over though.
I loved it.

Only 6 episodes though…and it’s pathetic that I don’t even know what we pay for Netflix. I probably need one of those services they are now advertising on TV regularly that help you dump all the shit you subscribe to, but don’t know it.

Watched it live. Marcia Clark was not good.
No she wasn't. California lets trials go on forever and the longer they go, the better for the accused in my opinion. OJ trial was 8 months. In contrast, Timothy McVeigh's trial was 23 days. I got called to jury duty up in the desert town of Adelanto, CA. A couple was charged with killing their 5 year old kid by pouring a can of draino down his throat. There were two additional counts of torture. The judge said if you got on the jury he anticipated the trial going on for 9 months. I was like - wtf, how could it possibly take 9 months to try a couple dirt bags who lived in a trailer out in the desert for killing their kid?????

Guess I need to check it out. Stumbled onto it the other day and thought to myself, "I feel like I've already seen this." I do love me a Netflix limited series documentary (or whatever they're called) though. They're almost always extremely well done.

How long ago was that? Adelanto is a shithole. I'm surprised they even have a court room there.

I thought the 30 for 30 "O.J.: Made on America" back in 2016 was really good.

Is this one just as good or better?

EDIT: Maybe I'm thinking of the FX miniseries "The People vs O.J...."

Didn’t see either of those but this one is very good.

Maybe 20 years ago. It was actually a nice courthouse. It was a San Bernardino County Court that served the high desert.

Another thing I always found interesting when driving up Highway 395 was the courthouse in Independence. The Manson case broke when Susan Atkins who was incarcerated for auto theft at the Inyo County Jail in Independence was questioned by the LaBianca murder investigators up from LA. Figuring she had a hand in the murders, she was extradited to LA and spilled her guts at the jail there.

I took this in 2018 when we were traveling to Virginia City from Death Valley.

I wouldn't compare any other criminal jury trial to anything in front of Judge Richard Matsch (McVeigh). He was one crusty old bastard. Last time I was in in courtroom, women attorneys could not wear pants, you were not allowed to put your briefcase on counsel table and no overcoats could be worn in the courtroom. All overcoats hung up on rack outside the courtroom. I once saw an investigator's phone ring in the courtroom and I thought Matsch was going to kill her. Nothing slowed any trial ever there.
