Hilarious thing is he thinks 6 to 8 seconds is enough time for control to correct a ceiling breach in that area and control ordering pass behind is permission for ceiling breach.

In the end it still falls on the chopper. They asked and received visual separation besides being asked multiple times do you see the CRJ .

Yet the control tower's radar apparently showed the helicopter at 200 feet at the time of the accident, though that information has not been confirmed. "That's what our job is, to figure that out," NTSB board member Todd Inman said.

Plus they need to be at the elevation needed to avoid collision with visual separation so even if they were at 200 feet (highly doubtful) it's still on them. They could have been at 100 to be on the same side. That airspace belonged to the landing commercial jet

I don’t disagree They saw the wrong plane and were short a crew chief. My initial statement was trusting the training of that chopper crew. As it turns out the dedicated helicopter controller WHO LEFT WORK EARLY might have been able to prevent this accident. It’s one of the busiest airports in the U.S. Why the F did that controller leave that post early? Why the F did the commander of that helicopter allow them to fly short a crew chief. Why the F is that an approved route to begin with. Some want to place all the blame on the pilot when in fact they rely on multiple other people to do their jobs. It wasn’t just the yard dart pilot that F’d up.

My initial reaction to trust that Blackhawk crew over a green pilot flying a very old small jet was just that. An initial reaction. There was WAY more certainty expressed by some on here that it was solely that Blackhawk’s pilot’s fault and that the collision happened at or near 500’. That was completely false. She was depending on multiple people who also failed in their roles.
