OT-Bourbon drinkers?

I’ve been really into redwood empire. Their cask strength rye is a great bottle and my favorite bottle right now. That said, their standard emerald giant rye is an amazing value for the $30-35 price tag
Yea I’ve heard good things about redwood. I’ll give it a try

I'm not into rye either. Funky taste
It’s not for everyone. Nothing is. I used to not like rye…then I tasted some better ryes. Michter’s 10 rye. JD single barrel barrel proof. Willett. Midwinter nights dram. Emerald giant cask strength. All pretty different. Some even pretty bourbon-esque. If you need a transition, you can look into redwood empire lost monarch. It’s a bou-rye…a blend of their bourbon and rye. There are also a lot of high rye bourbons that you can sample and build your taste for it

For you guys that are really into bourbon where does Wild Turkey rank?

Personally, it is my favorite, I am not a bourbon drinking but there is something about wild turkey, the smell and the taste, it is amazing.

I’m out here in LaLa land this week. Local wine and more in Brea (where I’m staying) has Knob Creek 12 for $65. Any of you boys had KC 12? Worth the 65 price point?

You're staying in Brea of all places? At the Embassy Suites? KC12 is def worth the $65 IMO but Brea Total Wine had Eagle Rare for $41 as of yesterday evening and I would get that over KC12.

I like Wild Turkey Rare Breed as my #2
Buffalo Trace is my #1

65 seems high for KC12. Walmart I think has it cheaper. I lost my fixer for Blantons😕. She quit as the liquor manager at HyVee. With the ramp up in production at Buffalo Trace I thought we would see a glut in bourbon but obviously it takes quite a while to age etc. I like Knob Creek double oaked but haven’t seen it anywhere lately.

You mean Woodford Double Oaked? I have a bottle of that open right now. It is a nice change up from other bourbons. Try Old Forester 1920 if you can find that locally.

Yeah woodford is solid. It’s what Delta serves onboard. I’ll probably order a couple on my long flight out to the west coast tonight
A buddy of mine who HATES to fly (big guy) flew Delta to the Bahamas 2 weeks ago and he raved about how good the flight was. Comfy seats and free movies on the seat backs.

I second this. I usually fly United just because one of the credit cards I have, but have flow Delta twice in the last couple of months and it has been great. Might actually switch to them because of what you just said. I hate their woke shit going on, but that seems to be all airlines right now.

United went WAY woke.. delta seems to be normal.

Brea Total Wine has been dropping some allocated gems lately!

This Blanton's I just popped open is a bit hot on the nose for a 93 proof. Very Eagle Rare-ish on the nose in the bottle but hot in the glass. Palate is just classic BT fare.

What a beta. Can’t handle Blanton’s or @Jaemekon

Agree on all those, all great. If I had to list my favorites at the moment, I would probably go with;

Scotch: Talisker 10
American: Mitchners Unblended
Bourbon: Henry McKenna or Eagle Rare
Rye: Whistle Pig or High West

Honestly, if I’m buying a bourbon to just sip on and not share with company, I always keep a big bottle (1.75) of Evan Williams around. It is solid, classic bourbon profile and dirt cheap. I had a friend describe Evan Williams as the K-State of bourbon, because it has no business being as good as it is.
Scotch: Tie (Oban 18) & (Lagavulin Distillers Edition)
American: New Riff
Bourbon: Angel's Envy
Rye: Whistle Pig Single Barrel
