This is so true. I was wearing a Nebraska shirt on a random Wednesday back in august. And a guy got out of his car and walked up to me and said “we’re going to get the heroes trophy back this year!” And I asked what’s the heroes trophy?

You’ve lost the comfy confines of the Big Ten West. And now you’re facing four new teams from the PAC, and we all know what happens anytime Iowa heads west of the Rockies to play a football game.
Iowa is probably going to find out just how fragile success can be for a midwest football program in this era. But then again, Iowa’s definition of “success” is different from most teams. You’re still pointing to an Orange Bowl win from 15 years ago and your last (shared) conference title 20 years ago as evidence of Ferentz’s greatness, so who knows? Maybe your next coach will keep you at the coveted 7 win level that Hawkeye fans are so smugly satisfied by.

As I’ve said. The herkys have simply figured out how to squeak by in one of the worst P5 conferences and are happy with it. The last few years, they are marginally better than some of the worst Nebraska teams in history. That’s the whole story and the reason they always get curb stomped by any team with a pulse.

I am not sure if you know it but Iowa doesn’t play on the Super Bowl. Never has. Never will. Nebraska is just another team on the schedule and usually it ends up in a win.
