Some visit news to pass along as we head into a new week. As a reminder the Huskers didn't host any official visits this weekend and focused on camps. They will have Kansas OL Kaedin Massey on campus tomorrow (6/12-6/14) for an official visit.
On Tuesday (6/13-6/15) the team will host defensive back Malik Esquerra for an official visit.
On Wednesday 2024 commit Keelan Smith will be in town for an unofficial visit. His teammate is 4-star DE/OLB Jayshawn Ross. Ross will also be on the trip.
Coen Echols was supposed to come in this week too but has rescheduled his visit to June 23 weekend. He'll now visit on Nebraska's biggest visit weekend of the year.
There will be official visitors this weekend but I'm expecting some changes to that list when we get to the back half of the week. Will update later in the week.
UPDATE 6/12 3:25 pm
Add offensive lineman Landen Davidson to the official visit list this weekend.
Davidson was offered this weekend after a strong camp performance at Nebraska and will be back this weekend June 16th for an official visit.
"I'm really looking forward to it," Davidson said. "Getting to hang around all the coaches and staff for a couple days, I really loved the energy."
Since things have moved quickly here I did ask if he thought he'd shut things down this weekend or take his other visits. He told me that he'd like to take other visits to be sure of his decision. He's in the process of setting up an OV to Oregon State as well.
"I think the most important things I want is to feel comfortable in my environment," Davidson said. "I want to really love where I’m at and going to spend the next 4 years. I know the transfer portal is there but I’d prefer to make the right choice the first time! My education is also important and finding a school that values that is a big deal to me. I want to grow as a player and want coaches that want to help me do that!"
UPDATE 6/12 9:26 pm
Iowa offensive lineman Jake Peters is taking an official visit this weekend.
"I haven't spent much time in Lincoln and I just want to go there and learn more about their program," Peters said. "I'm excited to build my relationships with the coaches and players."
Peters earned an offer this weekend after a strong camp performance.
UPDATE 6/13 1:57pm
Offensive lineman Nuku Mafi has changed his OV from this weekend to Sept 30 weekend (Michigan game). His coach led the charge to switch it but Mafi is still pumped to get back to Lincoln telling me he's really excited to see a game at Memorial Stadium.
