Just watched a few pieces of this game on YouTube and was surprised to see Berringer throwing the ball with 20 seconds left in the game. We were up 13-3 in OU's red zone and Brook got picked off. Does anyone remember why we did this? Did TO hate OU that much (remember the 73-21 pasting we put on them a few years later), or were we trying for style points considering Penn State was also undefeated? I figure the latter but interested in comments.

Style points were more important then, because the Big Ten and Pac-10 were still hiding in the Rose Bowl instead of being part of the bowl alliance. Couldn't slip below those teams, because you weren't going to get the opportunity to beat them in a bowl game.
