Now Iowa DL states Neb OL used racial slur but won't name him

I think unless you are willing to name a name, you don't say anything publicly about it. If somebody asked him what caused him to be so animated, he didn't have to be specific. Saying he heard a racial slur directed at him is being way more specific than he needs to be. He does us and himself no favors for the way he handled it. He has unfairly cast aspersions on the entire team by making a general accusation and he has caused people to doubt his truthfulness by making the accusation without naming a name. So I think it could not have been handled more inappropriately. If he heard something, then go through the proper channels behind the scenes and let it be handled there. Don't air it out in public.
I disagree and by not giving a name he handled it properly, let's put away the torches and pitchforks on both sides and let the coaches and administrators handle it.

Well, how are you going to do that when you've made a public accusation? You can't just put away the torches and pitchforks on both sides and let the coaches and administrators handle it because he made a public accusation. It's too late for that-that's why he didn't handle it properly.

Well, guess what. I trust our guys too, and I don't believe any of them would ever do anything like that. You don't want to believe your guy would make that up, and we don't want to believe our guys would do anything like that. We aren't going to get anywhere with that.
And our guys just pounded your patty cakes into an oblivion. That's not disputable.

One has nothing to do with the other. The fact you'd even bring the game up in a thread that has nothing to do with the game shows just how unseriously you take this issue.

Has anyone on Nebraska's side said it's a lie? I don't know.
Does anybody need to? If somebody accuses you of something you consider outrageous and you refuse to even respond, does that mean you are acknowledging it's true if you don't respond? No.

Aren't you the one that thinks if he came out with it, he needs to come out with a name so that the school can investigate? Are you implying that he needs a name, but the school doesn't need to go public with a response?

I'm not sure what you're getting at except that you are operating under the assumption that the accusation is true. I am not. You are essentially saying that refusal to say the accusation is untrue is prima facie evidence that it is true, which is totally unfair.

If you're a big enough boy to go to the media about it you're a big enough boy to provide some details. Otherwise is sounds like we have a pair of total pussies involved. One on each side.

So, let me get this straight: Nebraska has an olineman that drops n-bombs and is a racist. Nebraska has probably an equal amount of black players on its roster. They don't say anything (as far as I'm aware)?

I am starting to feel as if a comment was somehow taken either deliberately out of context, or, well, yeah. Let's not act like this is the Nebraska of the 50s-60s playing a team from Louisiana here. Our rosters are likely comprised almost equally/proportionately of white dudes and black dudes.

Something just doesn't add up to me. Further, given that the accuser was involved in a racially charged event with Iowa City police at a campus rally adds further fuel to the fire.

You should research things before verbally defecating on the internet.

what is there to handle?

people need to get over being offended by racial slurs..

Doesn't anyone remember Sticks and Stones from grade school?

I posted in a different thread where Faith was very animated with the official and you almost never see that from him. A ref pulled him away from a Husker o lineman and Faith was pleading his case. Again, he was pissed so I tend to believe him.
So what makes you think it was one of the cream puffs is made the slur?

Do you believe any of the things Lawrence Phillips was accused of? Iowa has 100+ guys on their team every season. I fully believe there are a few jack asses on the current and past team and certainly believe they are capable of doing stupid things. It does not make me a bad person if someone on the team I follow does something stupid.

I'm fairly confident that the player said something he should not have. Just like I'm confident that there is a lot of trash talk going on in every NFL/college game and a lot of things are said that shouldn't.

As to not naming him in the media, I respect that. I'm confident that if Mike Reilly wants to know who said what he would tell him.

You went back 20+ years, that's weak. More recent, Tommy Armstrong was accused of something, and that something didn't last very long.

We'll find out soon enough. Either Ferentz gets the name and share it with Nebraska or he doesn't.

Comment taken out of context? Either the word was used or it wasn't.

Also, what's the campus rally incident you're speaking of? I'm curious to learn more.
