How does a head coach of ANY school not proofread his own bio before the school posts it. Something fishy, here?

Early in my career we had a senior "VP" who was lauded for being a fighter pilot in Korea who was shot down and briefly a POW who reached the rank of captain. He also had a PhD. Somebody he pissed off contacted the Navy and colleges he attended. Turns out he was not a pilot and therefore not shot down or POW, was not an officer, was not even in the Navy, and the university he supposedly got his PhD from never heard of him.

The employer has no issue with this. They stated that he didn’t claim he had a masters degree on his employment records or anytime in the hiring process.
