NFL Head coaches hirings and firings

Atlanta fired their goober yesterday. Arthur something?

But he went out with a blaze of glory. I've got more respect for Arthur Smith now than ever before. It's tough to win in that league when you are taking over to coach a team with a washed up QB and you replace him the following year with a 2nd round rookie.

Raiders, Panthers, and Chargers already open.

Other possibilities - Jags (seems unlikely), Pats (seems likely), Saints (would guess not), Giants (would guess not), Jets (no feel for that one).

I missed the end of this

why was he mad? because the Saints ran up the score?

don't like it - maybe try stopping it?

Bears a possibility, also, though seems less likely than it did around Thanksgiving

I don't know how I feel about his reaction. I don't necessarily dislike it, but at the same time, this isn't some youth rec league where "running up the score" should be a thing to consider.

Have your D stop someone and quit crying.

They were in victory formation…totally different ballgame in that situation, including putting defensive players’ health in danger.

Jameis should be fired today.
just saw it

hilarious

Jameis probably earned his guy a nice incentive bonus because of it

The Saints had the ball on the Falcons one yard line and lined up in victory formation to kneel on the final play, up multiple scores. Obviously the defensive is going to let up and literally just stand up when they see that formation. But instead Dennis Allen called for a running play and exposed himself as a joke to the nation in the process.

Except it was Winston who went rogue and called it.

I disagree. If Dennis Allen wants to run up the score just to make his horrible season stats look slightly better, line up in a regular formation and play football. Don't run off a trick play off victory formation when you know that the defense will just be going through the motions and trying not to get fined for unnecessary roughness.

Get your facts straight. The coach did not call that play. It was such bush league.

Yeah, I saw that. I think he was a great interim guy, but Raiders kicked ass with Rich B as well to end the season. Davis will mess it up like he always does, but he should go get Harbaugh or someone else proven. Hell, go try Bisaccia and keep AP on the payroll as well. Who knows... The Raiders are a lost cause.

I agree that running an actual play off the victory formation is cheap. If you're going to run a play, don't do it out of that formation.

Didn't Dennis say his players went rogue on the call? If that's true, then it can't fall on him. Players wanted one of their guys, who hasn't scored all year, to get a TD.

Poor Jamaal. Went from leading the league in rushing TDs last year with the Lions. To taking bad advice from his agent and playing hard ball with the Lions. Only to have to take less money than the Lions offered after they moved on to Montgomery. So he ends up getting 1 TD this year in a cheap victory formation.

As a Lions fan, I’ve always liked him. Hope he gets a better opportunity next year.

Before my last post, I looked up to see how many TD's he had this season (which makes more sense as to why they gave him the ball). Then I looked to see how long he'd been with the Saints, previous year TD's, etc to better understand the situation (I don't really follow NFL players) and I was shocked to see that he was a stud last year at Detroit.

Like you said, brutal move.
