Omaha World Herald disagrees with this..

14. Osborne won 92.6 percent of his games against top10 teams.

you really think TO (or anyone for that matter) had a 92.6 winning percentage against top 10 teams ???
TO's total winning percentage wasn't 92.6% -- you really think his winning percentage improved against top 10 teams?? he was 2-12 against OU alone when they were a top 10 team

my goodness - use your head

not all ... there was speculation earlier in the thread about how Nebraska and TO specifically would have faired had they played in the big ten all along ... intriguing question -- just looking at the data available

as noted above - TO had a 0.346 winning percentage against teams that finished the season in the top 10

during TO's 25 years - he played 20 teams in the big 8/12 that finished the season in the top 10
during that same time the big ten had 37 teams that finished in the AP top 10

would TO have faired as well and won as many conf titles in the big ten as he did in the big 8/12? -- speculative, but at least the available data suggest he might not given that he would have likely played a tougher schedule featuring more top 10 teams
The problem is, you know how many big8/12 teams finished in the top 10 after playing TO/NU, but you don't know how many of those 37 big teams would have finished in the top 10 after playing TO/NU. So the comparison gets a little muddy.

a tougher schedule by .68 games/year

whoopdie do

to actually extract anything approaching reliable here, you'd need to weigh this by year, since TO obviously fared better against Top 10 teams later in his career than he did early/middle.

my guess is there wouldn't be any kind of meaningful difference.

yes -- speculative for sure -- but likewise there were many big ten teams that finished just outside the top 10 that may have ended up in the top 10 if they beat Neb

so might be a wash

You're an idiot:

Osborne's record against the Big 10 was 19-3, and even more impressive his record against the mighty SEC was 11-1-1
Remember TO taking Auburn and Bo Jackson to the Woodshed in the early 80s. An absolute debacle.
