Most Improved OL's

So if you’ve been critical of them, you’d realize that all this crap you keep blaming on Raiola isn’t all on Raiola. But keep on with your scapegoat banter.
The topic is “most improved OL”

Yes, I’m blaming the OL coach for our poor OL play. No, that’s not controversial

Retard.

Both can be bad at the same time.

What do sacks have to do with a discussion on the OL coach? You don’t even know what you’re debating.

Projection, you’re getting crushed.

You rejecting/being too dumb to understand the stats is a personal problem. Sort yourself out.

Doubling down that sacks have nothing to do with the OL coach? 🤡

Great - so you cherry picked one stat from one game. Iowa had more sacks. Great.

All while you completely ignore that Neb had more rushing and passing yards in the game. By a mile.

Seriously man. You’re not good at this stuff.

Poor OL play, sure. But he you both have gone to give him blame for the red zone, bad rushing, bad offense when there is way more than just an OL coach that goes into that. But anytime it gets brought up it’s “but Donnie, Donnie.” Many things are true at once, you want to deflect from the other truths.

Well you’re showing you’ve forgotten everything. It’s okay.
What can you possibly hang your hat on as an enthusiastic uncle Donnie proponent?

What’s your argument that he’s good?

Statistically & developmentally he has produced jack shit despite boasting the longest tenure of any assistant we have

Don’t waste you time with King monkey and the other idiot. You will never win they move the goalposts as needed to win an argument.
This is what it sounds like after being intellectually dominated by me.

No bigger dipshit on this board than you. Congrats.

I'm starting to think his last name is Raiola too. Maybe he's one of the other many nepo hires with that name in our program.
Some people just glom on to folks and I don’t get it.

We all should want the best for NU football at every position. Uncle Don sure as shit ain’t that and never will be.

unless I missed it, I don't think so

he's visiting Pitt and another ACC school this weekend
Oh crap - I’ve been doing the happy dance for a few days now.

Usually not great when recruits schedule more visits after meeting with their position coach

And thanks to uncle don’s “recruiting prowess” we are in dire need for OL at every position

Ah, so we dominated them for the most part, but lost because of a couple key plays?

Love that you have to keep telling yourself this. Definitely not insecure over getting your shit pushed in 😆

You weren’t paying attention apparently. We absolutely dominated Iowa and lost on a couple key plays.

Seriously. Did you not watch the game?

Let’s be clear. Your ability to debate a topic couldn’t push through piss-wet toilet paper.

you think we lost that game because of one play? And that is your basis for why Donovan is a bad coach?
> we lost because of a couple key plays
> no you can’t say we lost because of that play that led to the game winning score

Can’t even keep your own argument straight, you silly bitch 😆

I know why you love considering yourself an expert at debate, you probably get stuck doing it in the mirror

Backs away from the LOS, chasing after defenders getting ready to crush the QB.

Brainlets like @HUSKERBILL have no problem with losing games like this.

Do you know the difference between “a couple” and and “one”?

You can lose the game on a couple plays. Usually in football it’s a game of inches as they say. And it isn’t one play that usually causes a loss. But a couple can.

You seem to have a hard time with processing details in a conversation.

I got paid to play football. Played for years. Now I coach. Been doing that for years. Had a dad with an NFL contract. Have a cousin that just led the NFL in a statistical category this season.

You probably played video games. I’d bet on it.

I'm glad we shit-canned the Special Teams coach who also played a part.

You could say we have "a couple" coaches that suck.

Didn't ask, don't care, don't believe, but definitely cringed.

Bill, all due respect, but you're the guy who said on this forum getting outscored in the 2nd half and specifically the 4th quarter is no big deal.
It’s not.

Too many variables involved to point to second half differentials with an “a ha!!”

For example - if teams are ahead by 3 TDs or more in the fourth, they will put their backups in. And the winning team always puts them in before the losing team does.

Losing team will keep their starters in to try to end with some positive momentum before they eventually put their in (usually after a score or an extended drive)

The winning team concedes points for the sake of developing their backups.

That’s just how it goes. So second half points can sometimes be misleading.

It’s one reason why our conference for our varsity football program uses only “first half points allowed” as a tie breaker for state playoff berth seedings coming out of our conf.

It’s because second half scoring differentials are fickle numbers.

Hope that helps explain my stance if I said that.

Just interesting. You can probably poke a few holes in the logic. I did feel like I saw improvement and on paper I like our starting 5 next year. Finally seems like it is a OL that could make a few things happen.

Yeah, it’s positive news and I’m not trying to spin it otherwise. But from what I can tell this is only based on sack rate. Don’t think it accounts for hurries and/or anything in the run game.

You could, in theory, have a good QB who evades pressure and avoids sacks. And also have a terrible O-line. You can’t run the ball and your QB scrambles around a lot and throws a lot of incomplete passes but… hey, look at that fantastic sack rate!

I didn't think they were that bad tbh.

QB not scrambling at times hurt them.

This will absolutely huge if DR can figure how and when to scramble. He doesn’t need to go for 40 yds or anything, just know where the line is and move the sticks. And he only needs to run the ball 3-6 times a game if he knows when to do it and is decisive in doing so.

QB’s should just dive head first and forget sliding altogether.

Especially in college when you’re down as soon as you touch the turf. Refs will still call late hits if they just jump on you after you’re down and they’ll still call targeting when warranted. (I mean, in theory)

I don't care who he emulates. Just don't be a damn statue back there. And hit wide open receivers please.

He needs to learn both. Both are essential to being a great QB. He needs to be able read defenses pre-snap and know where and when the quick slant or out route is there and get the ball out quick. He also needs to get better at picking up the hidden yards with his legs. It absolutely kills and demoralizes defenses when they keep getting you to 3rd and 7 or 3rd and 5 and the QB picks up the 1st with his legs. DR needs to be good at both those things if he wants to be elite.

The two people whose opinions matter in this thing are just fine with Raiola and Rhule has in fact stated that the Oline has not been the problem concerning offensive production. He didn't fire Raiola, but he demoted Satterfield and McGuire (who shortly departed for TX Tech). Given that Satterfield is a long term Rhule associate and Rhule has only know Raiola for a couple of years, I'd say the personnel moves show that he values Raiola's performance. Holgerson was very honest about things when he took over as OC and he was critical of two rooms, WR and RBs. He didn't say a word about the Oline.

I mean, one could look at it that way and the logic is pretty sound. But it really doesn’t account for the fact that our NFL caliber starting QB is also his(Donnie’s) nephew. If there wasn’t strong connection between our best player and our O-line coach your logic would be a lot harder to poke wholes. JMO

Well just put this in perspective. What would a 2nd team all conference big 8 player be today in the b1g? 8 teams vs 18 teams.

Maybe still second team. Maybe nothing at all. In 1987 Jake Young, Keven Lightner, and Bob Sledge were 2nd team all B1G 8 and Nebraska finished 6th in the polls, higher then any current B1G school so their second team status probably would have stayed second team. Especially Jake

But we can talk hypotheticals all day long to aid to your straw-man argument but we won’t get anywhere. Let’s talk about today, shall we?
