Most Improved OL's

Does Donnie call plays ? Wouldn’t that fall under the OC not being good enough,

Always someone else’s fault. 2022 it was Whipple and 2023& 2024 was Satterfield. It couldn’t be that he sucks too. Na, football isn’t a team sport. Position coaches aren’t to blame. Just cords. I mean just look at all the all Big-Ten guys Donnie’s produced.

FWIW I think the guy can recruit. Just don’t think he’s good at coaching. Think the numbers back that.

People do realize you gotta have weapons as well. Our WRs were so bad that we replaced all of them and booted several more. All that plays into the total offense. I'm talking pass pro.

Holla

You have to know how to use the receivers you have.

Johnson should have been the starter from day one.

Stop asking a TE to break tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

The play calling had no rhythm just see what works.

No real commitment to running the football when we should have.

And a lame play action pass game.

Dylan as our starting QB helped. Better running game helped. Dana calling plays the back half of the season helped the most.
Makes sense. Better passing threat led to more defenses adjusting by going lighter in the box. Which led to more creases for the backs to get through- Emmitt excels at this. The only factor working against the line was Dylan's lack of mobility and holding onto the ball too long/high paid WRs not getting open.

Biggest thing that Raiola needs to work on is his speed. Can't have a statue back there. Look at every successful team in the BCS as well as the NFL.
Eh. I'd like to see him build that piece of his game, for sure, but I really want him to work on reading the D and getting the ball out.

Corcoran started 30 straight games before his 2023 injury and has played football games in five seasons. The way things are looking, he will likely be a backup, and having a reserve with that amount of experience that can play both OT and OG is worth 1 of 105 roster spots.
We can agree to disagree on that fact. Yes, he started a lot of games, but he was not a very good player and is coming off injury. I'd rather try and get a portal guy or develop someone else. I've said this a lot before, it is also nice to start transitioning a lot of these guys that are used to losing out. Our youngsters mostly come from highly successful programs and are used to winning. We need that mentality and not one that a lot of the older players have.

Just interesting. You can probably poke a few holes in the logic. I did feel like I saw improvement and on paper I like our starting 5 next year. Finally seems like it is a OL that could make a few things happen.
My only concern is bringing in transfers and getting them accustomed to playing together.

No doubt he does speed and quickness work. More concerned that he learns more about decisions on when to run and when to get rid of it to avoid bad sacks.

You mean 2x HM All-B1G Bryce Benhart or HM All-B1G Ben Scott?

Lions and Rams?
Two teams knocked out of the playoffs by mobile QBs?

He has a point. You don't have to be Lamar Jackson, but teams having to respect you might take off for 10 yards if you leave the middle wide open does a lot for keeping the deep threat open.

If Mahomes couldn't run the way he does, they don't win near as many games.

Most Nebraska fans are spoiled by watching the Pipeline of the 90s. If it's amazing fans can see it. If it's terrible fans can see that. But if it goes from C to B-? Or even D+ to C. Fans will have a hard time seeing that.

I'll repeat what I've said previously: Donovan needs three years with his recruits before he can be fairly judged. Until then I expect signs of improvement.

That happened this season. Pass pro was noticeable better and when Dylan got in trouble it was because he held the ball too long.

The run game was slightly better tho it suffered from second tier running backs. Still, a lack athleticism on the line was clear.

I have zero problem with what Donovan has done with the clay he had but he needs to burnish his recruiting chops.

And for the love of God how long has Corc been on the team? Did Riley recruit him?
