MLB Playoffs Thread

It is amazing how the MLB regular season is background noise but the MLB playoffs are a blast. Once they realize that and expand the playoffs even more, watch out!

Also, NHL playoffs are insane. Seeding might as well not even matter, what a blast.

The only reason people don't care about the regular season in baseball is because you have 162 games. If baseball season was like football season with 20 games every game would be sold out and must see....

I hope you are not giving the team the pregame speech before the game tomorrow.
I’m as big a Royals fan as there is. But that offensive performance tonight was indicative of the last two months. And against a team like the Yankees, that’s not good enough. And if the Royals starting pitching can’t go deep and continues to labor, you’re asking for trouble. And now home field shifts back to NY. Tell me the Royals are in a good position. But hey….i hope I’m wrong.

Probably. It is easy to let MLB "go" during the regular season and once your team is out of it, it is really easy.

Too many walks by Royals pitchers. Gotta find some offense too. But think this series is about over with now.
Walks are killing the Royals. In the two games the Yankees have won, the Royals have walked 17(!!) hitters. Of the 9 runs the Yankees scored in those games, 4 were guys that were walked. 2 runs on Saturday were literally walked in. I know NYY led the league in walks in the regular season, but 17 in two games is off the charts - especially for a Royals staff that was not that generous during the season.

Good news is that the Yankees are sending out Cole and Rodon the next two and the Royals got to both of them.

The Royals loss still stings in the light of day; but they had a hell of a season. It was totally unexpected (I predicted 71 wins at the beginning of the season), and the season was a hell of a lot of fun. They played good baseball pretty much start to finish.

This SHOULD be something they can build on. Witt, Pasquantino, Massey, Garcia, Melendez, Isbel just finished their 3rd big league season, and now have 2 playoff series under their belt. They have an aggressive GM and an owner willing to spend more than his predecessor. I don’t think we’ll have to wait 9 years for a return to the playoffs.

Disappointed but not unexpected. They weren’t going to beat the Yankees. It’s always going to be challenging beating a team whose payroll is like 3x’s yours. But it was a helleva run and a good season. Royals can build on this by getting rid of a multitude of guys who can’t hit. I’d like to see them find a better third baseman and two better hitting outfielders.

So I will throw my 2 cents in on this. Love the MLB playoffs and am an Indians and Royals fan. I know same division but everyone in the AL Central is about the same team gritty with a lot of no names and they all play hard. I didn't expect the Indians to pull out last night's game, but got it to a game 5 at home on Saturday. Shit not you have to face Skubal. We will see.

Great to see the Royals get back in the playoffs and it looks like they have a really nice young nucleus to build around. Here is to hoping they can be a contender for a while.

Not really a Yankee fan or hater for that matter, but if I am the Yankees I tell Stanton and Judge to get Chisholm in a corner and give him an ultimatum. Shut the f@$k up and play ball or give him the Private Pyle treatment from Full Metal Jacket. This POS is popping off like he matters. Know your place and stay in your lane.

Philly fans are upset, so we all win. Just need LA and NYM to fail as well. I’m pulling for Shildt and company to close out the Dodgers. Jam it up Mozielaks ass for firing him and keeping the clown Oli Marmol for another season.

The Yankees were just a little bit better - not exponentially better, just a little tighter. Their pitchers got ahead more consistently; said another way - their pitchers weren’t falling behind and walking guys as often. And clutch hits in games 1 and 3, that the Royals didn’t get. I thought Isbel’s shot in the 7th tied the game - but the wind knocked it down just enough.

But to your point- the Yankees payroll is almost 3 times that of the Royals. Pretty good showing for KC.

Chisholm really made an ass of himself on that play at second base last night. Volpe clocked Garcia in the jaw during the tag, but realized he did it and apologized. Those two had worked it all out, until Chisholm came riding in to the rescue.
