might as well hop on the UNO bandwagon

It surprises me how up and down Miles' offense at Nebraska has been compared to his at Colorado State his final two years. He had a lot of good juniors on that team including Fremont Bergan's own Wes Eikmeier as the leading scorer. Just interesting to me.

Daum takes too many bad shots to play for Miles. Timmy would have him on the bench to be able to score too much. :D

I can definitely forgive a Power 5 coach for missing on Daum, but I do think he could contribute nicely for a Big Ten team. Wisconsin, Purdue and Iowa find playing time for guys like that all the time, and manage to hide them on the defensive end.

While on the topic of small high school competition, what level were the Wisconsin high schools that Nick Fuller lit up?

Idk. But I am not going out on a small limb saying Daum may not have developed the same under Miles. Kid has good really good hands. Would be interesting to see for sure.

Yeah Miles might be like one of those "coolers" that the casinos hire. If he even stood within 30 feet of Daum, that sweet jumper might start falling at a 28 percent clip!

Wow this is a great game. Mavs not going down without a fight.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I believe that someone like Daum could absolutely play at a Big Ten school. I am kind of rooting for SDSU here so we can see him in the NCAA tourney against a good team.

Ugh. Mavs played well most of the night but those last possessions were hideous. Get to the rim, man.

Or that sweet jumper would not have developed because shooting is for suckers. Ha.

I think TJ Otzelberger is a future coaching star. Probably not ready yet for a major-conference job, but he was a heck of a recruiter at Iowa State and Washington.

Daum is so damn good. Hes more than just a shooter, but shooter he is.
Fun game to watch, both offenses more fun to watch than NU although uno farted it up at the end.

Maybe Jackrabbit Nation has message board posters who explained to Daum that he just needed to make more shots, and the light bulb came on.
They are better fans apparently.

NBA scouts are looking at Daum. He's a sophomore. He could play here, but ask why stay at SDSU? Because he is so damn good he can carry his team on his back and get his team to the dance. He's 2 for 2 now.

He reminds me of somebody... just can't put my finger on it.

if you cant root for these kids in this game, you have some issues.
I guess I have some issues then. I don't root against them-I just don't care. They are playing for a team I care nothing about and I'm not going to start acting like I care about them just because they happen to have some players that are from Nebraska. If you want to root for them, fine. I choose not to. I have one team and one team only and I don't bandwagon with other teams just because mine isn't very good.

Agree. I would have been happy with Hahn taking the last 2nd shot. Win or lose it on that shot.
Hahn is the man if you can get him an open look. But I can't figure out why they didn't try to get to the basket and get the game to OT.

SDSU did a hell of a job taking the lane away in the final.30 minutes. Also, Thurmond fouled out so I don't like extending the game. I agree with going for the win, just not the shooter.

seems odd to not want a bunch of local kids to have success when them doing so has zero effect on the team you do support. also odd that you have to create the because my team isnt any good strawman to go with it.

it also has zero positive effect on the team I support or the state I live in. Nobody outside of Nebraska cares that they may have some players from Nebraska on there. It gets Nebraska no positive press at all. And even if it did, it doesn't get the Huskers any positive press, so why should I care? I also don't understand why you call it a strawman. It's the truth-my team isn't very good, but that doesn't mean I have to find some reason to cheer for somebody else.

Honest question and not trying to start a fight. Do you enjoy March Madness? There's always a lot to enjoy just as a fan of the game of college basketball IMO.

I enjoyed watching the game. It was an entertaining game and I really didn't care who won, although I kind of found myself rooting for SDSU at the end because I think Daum could be an interesting story in the tourney. But, then again UNO making it for the first time would have been a good story too.

A kid from.Kimball Nebraska making it to the NBA would be a hell of a story too.

Imagine if Coach Miles had bothered to recruit Mike Daum and Justin Patton. Those two guys on the same team would be crazy.

To be somewhat fair to Miles, Patton...noone thought he'd qualify academically. CU got lucky.

I don't always watch a lot of it, but I do usually fill out a bracket and at least keep track of what is going on.

I watched the game and was cheering for Omaha. It was nice to be excited about a game, haven't had that for quite some time this season.

No one recruited him because he was a non descript 6'2" guard, then he grew 8 inches and only a couple of schools had shown any interest prior. Blame it on potential academics issues if you want but Miles was chasing McVeigh, Watson, Morrow and Jacobson and had no interest in Patton.

He was 6 2 as a freshman. Miles showed some interest but it's been mentioned numerous times that no one thought he'd qualify, and people were shocked his SR year when he became qualified.

And if he thought Patton was going to be a lottery pick, he would have continued the recruitment.

It's not Miles' fault, no one was recruiting him but to say it was just potential grade issues is silly.

Daum is used just like Georges Niang was at Iowa State.... Same type of player. TJ was at Iowa State with Niang and knows how to get guys like that good looks. Wonder if he's interested in a new position in Lincoln???
