Mickey Rumor

the downside might be for Trev

his job as AD will be determined by this hire - if his hire hits he will be a genius if it flops he will be fired

for future jobs this decision will be evaluated on the basis of the process

were his criteria for the position in line with other successful hires - would other like companies or programs also be in the market for his hire or did his hire come out of left field

save Dabo there aren't many successful college head coaches that weren't prior non-interim head coaches or coordinators

when was the last time a big ten coach won a conf championship that wasn't a coordinator or prior head coach or both? SEC?- Big12?

if he makes a reasonable hire that other power 5 programs showed interest in and meets the standard criteria of other successful head coaches but it doesn't work out he has a chance at another high profile job - if his first major hire comes out of left field that is in direct contrast to the standard criteria he is at risk for never being given a job that requires an important decision in the future

if he chooses MJ I will cheer like hell for him- but it will certainly be in conflict with the usual path
Was Ryan day a coordinator?

Ed O had a few bites at the interim HC apple, but don’t believe he was ever a fulltime coordinator

it’s rare, sure, but not unprecedented

I agree with everything you said regarding Trev and think those points favor Mickey, also

people forget that sir yacht was right

I see Mickey as HC as the clearest way forward. it's much easier to poach coordinators, and having a face of the franchise is very valuable on its own

the people using 'experience' and 'proven' as reasons not to hire him have no legs to stand on

Mickey will not meddle with the O or D and will provide a very steady presence with regards to our public persona and recruiting

I honestly don't see a downside - especially if he accepts the same per year number as our previous guy (I sure as hell wouldn't)
You're not wrong on any of that.

get aranda, keep mickey and bout time puma makes our shoes, coolest shoe logo

Day was an offensive coordinator
Orgeron was the USC DC 2010-2013

I really don’t see a downside for trev in hiring Mickey, we’ve sucked for so long all Mickey has to do is go bowling the next 2 years before we start craving the 9 win seasons. If we ever get back to 9 wins it will be at least 8-10 years before we all start bitching about not winning enough again. Mickey can for sure get us talent and he’s already proving he can turn chicken shit into chicken salad. I’d like to ride with Mickey vs some up and comer.

I’d take him as an HC, but it would be entirely dependent on his staff.

Some(most) people need to come to grips with what the actual pool of candidates is.
Mickey has 1 big named coach lined up already and Trev knows it. We would be bowling easily next year and those 9-10 win seasons aren’t too far behind with this coach. It would be hard for 18 year olds to say no to Nebraska with that staff that Mickey plans on assembling.

Is this coach a current coordinator at another school?
How do we know mickey can get him? Former coworker?

Yeah the OP is full of holes..

First, how do you quantify a figure like 65%?

Why would the administration offer a 6 year contract on an unproven head coach?

Why would Trev have woke concerns over the Adidas brand relationship with Ye?

Why would an unrelated Adidas brand relationship impact or increase our own sponsorship?

It's like you led with BS, but some maybe realistic info in the middle, and trailed with more bs.. this is not the right way to compose a crap sandwich that people are going to eat.
It’s like sex panther. 65% of the time it works every time

As a big time booster that is on the inside there is a 65 percent chance Mickey is the head coach next year. Mickey has presented his plans to Trev about who would join him on staff. There are some big, impressive names lined up to join if Mickey gets the job. A few current coaches would remain, but most would be gone. Mickey will get a full interview after the season, but if he wins this weekend don’t be surprised to see the interim position removed and a contract of 6 years and 5 million per season offered. There have been parents of current players letting Trev know they think Mickey should get the job, however there are some big time boosters who want Trev to just keep him on staff.

Trev has also been looking into exploring other apparel options other than Adidas due to their slow response to end the partnership with Kanye West. However this has also lead reps for Adidas to possibly increase sponsorship for Nebraska.
Are you referencing the same big time loser boosters who kept Frost to make Nebraska one of the worst performing programs in D1 football?

But as others pointed out, wasn't he the one who posted about Frost being fired before 11 (or something like that) and it actually happened?

This is the same poster, right?

At that point many were calling it. And he also fabricated a story about an altercation to boot. Like I said he is a known troll with multiple screen names, do with that what you choose.

No one was calling it. Everyone said they were waiting until after Indiana. Don’t pretend you know. You don’t. I speak with people who WORK directly with trev.

That didn’t take some huge insider for that. I knew Frank was fired before Frank did and I’m a nobody. I highly doubt Yrev is the kind of guy who would share that kind of information the way Pedie did.

You bash Trev 24/7 with your other screen name, but now you speak with people he works with? And YES everyone and their dog was calling the firing on 9/10. Check out all these insiders:

He actually might be a big time booster. I’m sure they all hang out on chat rooms sharing details about the sh*t show they have been funding the last 20+ years. And the fact that he would admit to being one of those dorks makes me think he could possibly truly be one of those dorks. Winking

Okay captain hindsight. No one on this board believed my sources then. They were spot on. They will be right again. It’s mickeys job to lose right now simple as that. Nebraska in the next 6 months will announce an addendum to the adidas contract. Mark it down.

So OP says:

There's a possibility that Mickey will be hired as HC.
He could possibly be hired this weekend.
Some assistants may possibly be kept, others won't be.
There's a possibility that the Adidas contract will be terminated or increased.
Trev wants Mickey to earn it. He is rooting for him. But he can’t sell Mickey if he goes 4-8. If Mickey goes 5-7 or 6-6 and shows the improvement we continually see trev would be run out of town if he hired the other options.
Mickey will hire a new OC and DC. 1 is a big name guy who he has worked with before.
The contract with adidas is to increase the money given on products and exposure across the country. Not just local.

He is Frank the troll. He LITERALLY said that his other account is bigtimebooster. He doesn't know anything and this thread has no purpose other than to f--k with you.

People trying to have a reasoned debate with the biggest troll on the board…

Funny that some of the posters disqualifying the post as credible where some of the same ones that’s basically disqualified really the only other post the bigtimebooster posted before. And obviously it ended up spot on. See Here

OP has some credit from me so he/she has my attention and all of what he says makes sense. Also willing to bet the OP is using a burner username so he’s not linked back to the post

It makes sense that this has always been Mickeys job to lose because HE HAS THE JOB. He has the advantage of showing Trev how he manages things we don’t see. And if some of you think like a $5MM deal for him is ridiculous, what economy are you living in? Inflation is a MF. Eliah Drinkwitz got $4M a year back in 2019 after being a HC one year. If your Trev and believe it’s Mickey you should make a strong statement… Granted you’re putting your career on the line too but that’s what leadership does. They make f-ing decisions and don’t pussyfoot around
No, offering a $5 million/year contract to Mickey Joseph is ridiculous.
Brent Bielema makes $4.3 million
Paul Chrystal was paid $4.3 million in 2021
P.J. Fleck was paid $4.65 million in 2021
Kalen DeBoer signed a contract for $3 million last year
Chris Kleiman’s initial contract at KSU was under $3million, currently is being paid $3.5 million and next year $4.1 million
Lance Liepold signed a 6 year contract at $2.8 million/year

The going rate for a first time head coach at a P5 school should be $3-3.5 million/year. The appropriate salary for a coach with no head coach or coordinator experience is unknown because it just doesn’t happen.
If Mickey Joseph demands $5 million/year to be named head coach at Nebraska, Trev should move onto other candidates.

Id love it to be his brother!!

Also I would like Aranda hired as HC.. keep MJ as wr coach and recruiting cord.. let his brother be DC.. bring in the best possible oline and dline coach and keep bush at Special teams coach . Keep rb coach as well.. let Aranda bring his OC and fill the rest of positions with who he wants

Folks have said that the only way MJ is here is to bring in an elite set of coordinators. Folks have really yet to define elite.

I don’t think Mickey or Trev feel that way. Mickey probably feels he needs the right coordinators, even if they aren’t say the most high priced options.

regardless of who is coach next year I’d be surprised if Nebraska sports a coordinator approaching the 2 million dollar a year threshold. I think that generally within the elite ballpark seeing as I think we’re around a couple of dozen guys making that kind of dough now in CFB.

I cannot believe people feed into Frank's post. MJ may or may not earn it. Trev needs to be able to sell it so MJ has to earn it. Ground breaking stuff Franky 🤣

I love how this troll begins by saying that his source says there is a 65% chance of MJ getting hired. Where did this percentage come from? What the hell does 65% mean? If you mean that there is a better than 50% chance then just say that. What the hell is this 65% bullshit? What does it mean to say that there is a 15% chance beyond 50% that he will be hired?

I'm not ready to line up at the buffet yet. That's not chicken salad you're looking at. It's still chicken shit, but the smell has been neutralized. Let's win a couple home games over the next two weeks before we break out the picnic baskets.
