Michael Jacobson transfer official

Wow. Can't remember the last time I saw this with a D1 basketball team. 4 players?? If 1 more player leaves that will fill a court. Absolutely terrible job.
Wonder if the athletic department does like most businesses and do exit interviews. This is utterly amazing and unacceptable.

I think the time has passed to be able to make a move this year and assuming the 2 transfers and the incoming freshman are as good as billed we may not be in as bad of shape as some think. We need to land that grad transfer center we're recruiting to help Jordy. It's not like we lit it up with the guys that are leaving. Kind of my point with Ed's departure. I like Ed and he's a good piece but we have to have better players than him to compete at a high level consistently.

Saw on the tweeter: he has signed 14 4-year eligible guys. 1 has completed eligibility. 4 are still in the program. 9 (freaking 9 out of 14) have left the program early.

Common denominator?

Also, save the "they went pro" excuses.

I now agree with dingle. All nine of those guys were either not good enough to play at NU or were bad teammates, right dingle?

Petteway in fact left because he was nearing being eligible of AARP and wanted to get paid. Pitchford was just nuts. These last 3 are the only ones we should worry about IMO. The earlier ones were just early recruiting misses.. IF you recruit highly recruited guys, you're always going to have somebody unhappy. about something but these 3 hurt and is unusual.
Keep spinning. I told you Jacobsen was leaving. You didn't believe it, and claimed he would be a big loss.
Now it's "wait till next year with a bunch of unproven guys and Freshmen"

It's really difficult to make the argument that Miles is representing NU in a favorable manner at this point. Maybe we can get some of the volleyball players to help fill out the roster for next year.

Absolutely not and it had NOTHING to do with the W/L record, the blowouts or the style of play. I'm an NU supporter and Bo clearly didn't give a crap about NU or its reputation. IF he had represented NU in a favorable manner I would have supported him til he was canned. If you go back a few days ago you'll find a post where I qualified my support for a coach as long as he represented the University in a positive manner.

So, in other words, you are okay with an NU program being a dumpster fire, as long as he is a good representative of NU?

Need to change coaches immediately. Absolutely unacceptable to have this many transfers year after year. I don't care if they go with an interim coach for a year, you gotta let Miles go. I wanted him to succeed as much as anyone. But seriously, how do you keep losing all these guys (who should have big roles on the team) to transfers? The next one to go should be him - tomorrow.

Who says we are a dumpster fire? They all left because Timmy told them they would have little playing time with the awesome class coming in.
On the bright side, it probably doesn't take Miles long to write his press release saying that 'he's disappointed but looking forward to building a winning culture'...probably has a template where he just changes the date and player's name.

You're right Charlie. I am sure Ed saw the writing on the wall with the possible transfer from Winthrop coming in.

This is a damning statistic more than anything else. How the hell do you have that high of turnover within your program? Even trying to run kids off, that'd be tough to accomplish. Good lord.

It's a bit strange Miles didn't mention Glynn Watson in his press release. I guess he was talking about the front court here, but then again I don't really consider McVeigh to be a front court player.

Yes I think he was referring to front court players only. But you're right - I'll bet the Big Ten players that McVeigh is supposed to guard in the post next year are absolutely s---ting themselves.

It's especially puzzling when program insiders assure us that Timmy has GREAT relationships with his players and team chemistry is off the charts.

"Yeah, everyone knows McVeigh plays better interior defense than Morrow and Jacobsen".... dingle, probs.

I wouldn't put it like that and I don't think we were a dumpster fire until the team quit on Miles. I'll find out eventually what happened to cause that.

This is a horrible deal. I'm sure I'll find out soon enough the real whys behind it. Something happened more than style of play.
I'd say style of play would be #1 though. I would estimate that a Husker guards fed the low post from the wing a grand total of 10 times all season.

It's going to be another long long season for Tim Miles. Will be interesting to see how he handles the pressure. I'm going to guess it won't be well.

Well Pitchford was not a particularly good teammate. I haven't called anybody else a bad teammate. AW hurt. Petteway just wanted to get paid. You go look at some of those earlier transfers and tell me that they were good enough to play in the B1G. Not.

How many years in a row do they need to quit on him?

Oh sorry, I forgot "he's the coach I support no matter what. Great guy, when the cameras are on"

Be sure to share with the rest of us. It's obvious nobody here has a prayer of being as informed as you.

Who recruited them?

Miles also told Robin that there weren't going to be any transfers after Fuller. At this point, we can all understand that Tim Miles doesn't prioritize building strong relationships with his players nor does he manage team chemistry throughout the season with at least two or possibly three of his teams going into the tank by the end of the year.

Who says Glynn is staying at this point?
Heck, toward the end of the season, I had Glynn pegged as the most likely to transfer after Horne. His play really dropped off. I'm surprised he's still in the program at this point, but I hope he stays.

So is he a crappy guy when the cameras are off? I've never heard that anywhere have you? I don't know him other than a couple of afternoon pickup game sessions 25 years or so with some other college coaches and former college players and I didn't even know his name at the time.

He was injured at the end of the year.

It will be somebody that does work for NU at a much higher pay rate than you champ.Winking
Yeah that's the thing - I don't make any claim to know what's going on behind closed doors in the BB program or what kind of relationship Miles has with his players. I'd always fear I might end up looking like a self-important gasbag who really has no idea what the Hell he's talking about.

I would call it "banged up" rather than injured, but in any case Watson was benched at one point by Miles and they didn't seem to ever have great interactions on the bench. I thought Glynn was dogging it at times and other times he was just too tired & worn down. His defense left a lot to be desired and when the head coach overlooks such things and still plays the kid-- well, that's a good way to lose your team.

Um.....no. Have to land the grad transfer or we're in bad shape in the paint.
