Michael Jacobson transfer official

I'm pissed as hell, but I am laughing to an extent because some of us saw this as a likely outcome. But I have to admit, even worse case scenario I didn't see 4 guys leaving.
This is a horrible deal. I'm sure I'll find out soon enough the real whys behind it. Something happened more than style of play.

"some of us saw this as a likely outcome"

Does this include AD SE.Smokin

Wow. Can't remember the last time I saw this with a D1 basketball team. 4 players?? If 1 more player leaves that will fill a court. Absolutely terrible job.

I said it after Morrow left and I'll say it again. Cut Miles loose and hire an NBA guy that can get us through the next 2 to 3 years before he heads back to the Association.

I'm pretty sure it is simple. I'd say this is a no confidence vote with the funny guy.
Maybe. Might have been a misguided disciplinary attempt. Who knows. Regardless losing these guys suck. While I didn't think losing Ed was a "sky is falling" moment, there wasn't a single one of those guys I wanted to see leave.

Maybe Miles will try to convince Glynn Watson that he will now need to play the 5 and he will announce his transfer shortly after.

Guys are leaving because they are banging teammates girls..... got it.
I didn't say that's what happened here. I'm saying something more than style of play caused this. All I heard this past summer and early in the season was how great the chemistry was with this team and IMO it all went out the window the last month of the season.

It didn't go out the window. They are playing for a coach that they thought was getting canned and know is getting canned after this season. They are leaving for what they think is something better.

Player still probably like each other a lot.

Sounds like Morrow leaving made the decision for Jacobsen which kind of doesn't make sense. I don't care where Jacobsen goes, he is likely going to have to play the 5 at times at his size.

Next year Nebraska has the chance to be one of the worst major conference division 1 programs in basketball history. I'm not kidding when I say we may not be able to win more than 8 games next year. We literally could not field a starting 5 right now that's remotely close to D1 talent. Buckle up next year it's going to be a rough ride.

We can field a starting 5 but they would have to play most of the game. We've got 7 potentially legit guys left but losing 2 bigs is a really bad deal.

I am curious where Jacobson will end up. Iowa State seems to be a hot spot for transfers and they graduate a ton of seniors, wouldn't be surprised if him and Ed both end up there.

Unless Watson leaves, we are not losing any really, really good players. I don't think any of these players that left would be starters at any top 50 teams.

And that should make us feel.... better? All three players who are leaving have clear limitations, and none of them are stars by any stretch of the imagination. But they are sure as Hell better than what you are going to find in the transfer bin in mid-April.

I don't include Fuller because his decision to transfer doesn't really hurt the team. It's not his fault he never should have been recruited to play at this level. But again, that recruiting whiff doesn't speak well for the program.

It's not so much that Ed and Michael were great players...it's the fact that they were guys who played a lot of minutes, were considered hard-working and unselfish players, and both came from families that had ties to Nebraska. These aren't prima donnas who were mad about lack of playing time or being homesick.

I liked the tenacity and effort of both Morrow and Jacobson, but both were tough to watch on the offensive end. Guess that goes for most of the current Husker squad.

This is turning into a sh#t show. If these guys were NBA caliber I can see it but come on. All arrows point to the top. Time for SE to step up & try to make this right. Hell, the Titanic stood a better chance.

I think the time has passed to be able to make a move this year and assuming the 2 transfers and the incoming freshman are as good as billed we may not be in as bad of shape as some think. We need to land that grad transfer center we're recruiting to help Jordy. It's not like we lit it up with the guys that are leaving. Kind of my point with Ed's departure. I like Ed and he's a good piece but we have to have better players than him to compete at a high level consistently.

Yeah, who needs rebounds when you shoot 20% from deep after 29 seconds of the "chicken shit shuffle" offense.
Was it the offense or some of the talent running it? It looked pretty good at times with Webster, Roby, Jordy and Glynn all in the game at the same time. I've seen KU run much of the same stuff.

Rejoicing at something really bad for our basketball team? Yeah you're really a great supporter of NU.

A great supporter of NU realizes that everyone else is playing chess while Timmy is playing checkers. At first, I thought maybe you were trolling....now I know you are just a sh##ty fan that supports Timmy more than the NU basketball program. Gtfo of here with that bs.

No. I support NU and IF SE was to can TM then I'll support him in that and if somebody cans SE, I'll support them in that. Until that time, I'll try not to undermine them on a message board.

Who recruited those players? Must not have been as talented as we were told to believe.

I have never touted the talent of the guys leaving other than to point out their positives. Guys like Watson, Roby and Jordy are the kind of players we need 1 thru 10. Jordy is really raw but you see flashes with Watson an Roby that make you think they could play for anybody right now. Ed, Jacobsen and Horne all had positives and frankly I think Horne with a better work ethic had the potential to be the best of the 3. Talent potential wise, I would rank Ed last of those 3. Clearly production wise Ed was doing about the most he could with his limitations. I think the newcomers this next fall are going to be better offensive players than Ed and Jacobsen but losing 2 bigs that played as hard as they did sucks.

For the record. just curious dingle.....did you support Bo all the way up until the day he was fired?
Absolutely not and it had NOTHING to do with the W/L record, the blowouts or the style of play. I'm an NU supporter and Bo clearly didn't give a crap about NU or its reputation. IF he had represented NU in a favorable manner I would have supported him til he was canned. If you go back a few days ago you'll find a post where I qualified my support for a coach as long as he represented the University in a positive manner.

Saw on the tweeter: he has signed 14 4-year eligible guys. 1 has completed eligibility. 4 are still in the program. 9 (freaking 9 out of 14) have left the program early.

Common denominator?

Also, save the "they went pro" excuses.

Dynamite hire T.O.

It's sad that people would still be pissed if he got canned simply because Osborne made another shitty hire.

Petteway in fact left because he was nearing being eligible of AARP and wanted to get paid. Pitchford was just nuts. These last 3 are the only ones we should worry about IMO. The earlier ones were just early recruiting misses.. IF you recruit highly recruited guys, you're always going to have somebody unhappy. about something but these 3 hurt and is unusual.
