It was revealed during Nebraska Volleyball's post-Brazil press conference that Lexi Rodriguez and Merritt Beason were named team captains for the 2023 fall season. Rodriguez was a captain last season as a sophomore and was named one again this season. Beason — another junior — transferred from Florida in the winter after two season with the Gators including one season as a team captain.
Head coach John Cook mentioned that all 14 players showed up for optional leadership classes. It was required that anyone who was interested in being a captain had to stand up and make their case in front of everyone. All 14 players did so.
