Question for my fellow lawn care nuts. My front yard is looking good this spring but I’m noticing a lot of it has a white almost powder looking substance on it. When I mow it creates a cloud almost looking like chalk.
I of course put it in the google machine and it sounds like it’s a mildew that is caused by a lot shade and moisture. My front yard is shaded by a large ash tree but I haven’t been watering much. Google also said it could be from too much nitrogen and I do put milorganite on a few times a year.
It was suggested to let the lawn grow a bit taller before mowing and that could take care of it. Any other suggestions? Is this something that could really harm my lawn? TIA!
