Klatt, AP and Pre-Season coaches poll top 25

Huskers received 16 AP votes

more than wisc and CU - Rhule's two measuring stick opponents

it seems the expectation is that we will be better than both of those teams. would be great for it to play out that way on the field

Lane was also my fist (realistic) choice 2 years ago. No idea if he would have come or not, but the fact he landed where he did, suggests he would have considered it.

here's a crazy stat:

Kirby Smart hasn't lost to an active head coach in an SEC regular season game since 2017

Ole Miss, ND, Mich and Penn St will all finish lower than their pre-season ranking. iowa is way way way overrated. Their schedule is pure trash (fitting) but they still won’t finish in the top 25.
Iowa has 3 easy games early, Illinois State. Troy and Minnesota. Don't know anything about Iowa State this year, but the Cyclones usually play them tough. They will get trounced by Ohio State. Do not know how good U Dub will be with a new coach and transfer Qb Will Rogers but I imagine they will be able to score some points and Iowa's offense under conservative Kirk are not built for big points. Mich State also has a new coach so this likely is another Hawkeye win. I have no faith in Northwestern. I think they will lose to the Badgers. I think UCLA is going to be a train wreck. Petros Papadakis, a well-connected LA sports radio guy thinks UCLA hired DeShaun Foster as a sacrificial lamb. He claims the big money UCLA supporters would only support hiring a big-time coach. The administration was not helped with the timing of Chip Kelly's departure, so they were unable to get any interest from anyone of stature, so they went with Foster. He "only" got a 5-year, $15-18 million dollar contract. Don't know anything about Maryland, an away game. That leads us to the Huskers. Let's hope Matt has the boys playing well and we come away with a victory. I am predicting Iowa will have at a minimum 3 losses, OSU, Wis and the Huskers. We can always hope for more.
