I always liked that guy, even though the White House kept him at arms-length during Carter's Presidency. He was escorting a group of Libyans around Georgia including where Billy Beer was distributed from. He was asked why he was accommodating the Libyans so graciously and he said, "Because, there is a Hell lot more Arabs than there is Jews (he pronounced it AAA-rabs). I didn't like the comment so much, but admired a guy who spoke his mind even though he was the President's brother.

Might have had the greatest post presidential impact of anyone
I agree, in most ways,,,put action into his words...ironically, I'm not sure he was close to the living EX-PRESIDENTS when they were a group of Ford, Bush, Bush, Clinton, Reagan, maybe Obama...kind of aloof...

I teach American History and Carter is my top example of president being dealt situations they are expected to fix that might not have been their fault...

He was a good human being but a lousy president policy wise. Can't talk politics on here so I will have to leave it at that

He legalized brewing small amounts of beer at home and that allowed the birth of the American craft brewing industry. And apparently Jimmy rarely drank. Truly a great American.

Was inaugurated in 1977, the season that Notre Dame beat Texas for the national championship.

The Goodyear blimp also celebrating 100 years this year, and 100 years ago in 1925 Notre Dame beat Stanford for the national championship of the 1924 season, the year Jimmy Carter was born. Goodyear is headquartered in Akron, Ohio.

As a guy who is disgusted with politicians these days, Carter had his heart in the right place. I always think that if you leave out politics, skin color, cultural differences, etc., we can find a lot to admire in people. We all have different perspectives. I didn't agree with Carter politically for the most part, but Jimmy Carter was a gentleman and he did an exceptional amount of good for people in need.

Jmo do a little more research on jimmy, he wasn’t the good of a person, he did a number of destructive things to the USA after he left office. The media portrayed him a good man for his work with habitat for humanity.

And there were a lot of people in need after his Presidency. My brother-in-law lost his farm because of his policies. That was true for thousands of farmers and hit young farmers especially hard.

Such as? I generally ignored anything he did after he left office. Helped the local HFH chapter on a couple of houses until I saw what happened after the people moved in. The deadbeat boyfriend who wasn’t around when we built the house moved in almost immediately and filled the yard with his toys.
